if they are just horse charging you, you get many chances to kill the horse.

Give me a pike and any horse is dead.

Nowhere near as bad as the guys who watch you run over the hapless enemy and then utterly fail to follow up with an attack while they're on the floor.

This reminds me: people who don't help you when you're fighting 1v1. Or archers that stand behind you and fire at the guy you're fighting in front. When they could just...walk...right...around. "Dueling" be damned, I don't want my ass dead!

Because walking around is a good way to get yourself killed, particularly if the guy you're looking to shoot finishes off his opponent and is looking for a fresh victim.

 If you know there is an archer behind you, try and move so you force the enemy to put their back to him. If it's a friendly archer you'll be awarded via your opponent staggering and being opened to an attack, if it's an enemy archer your opponent makes a better shield than your shield, since your actual shield doesn't bounce the damage back. Either way you win.

90% of the time the guy starts off with his back to me, and by the time I've drawn the bow back or raised the crossbow and targeted his head, the muppet I'm trying to help is standing in the way. Is there some special infantry radar which points to the perfect location to block the shot?

Go around to catch the enemy, to have his back to you, and in front of him is your team mate. With his back to you, you shoot him. You don't need to be at his back, it's enough to catching him sideways or at angle you're sure not to hit your team mate, while at the same time making the enemy exposed to your arrow. What can happen here is: he will die from your arrow(s) or he will be left open for an attack from your team mate after being pushed back by one of your arrows.

  Why would you run out to engage someone on foot when you know you cant catch them?  because they should do the honorable thing and stop running around you and die?  lol get a grip.  You wanna talk about being a man,..why you wearing all that armor, to fight a naked guy?  If YOU were a real man you would take it off to fight him.

Yes and no. The least they could do, especially when standing literally right behind me, is to move around to my side or something. Most people are smart enough not to expose their backs/sides to archers that are right there. I would much rather prefer a 2v1 situation, but hey, the recoil from being hit with an arrow is enough for me.
