http://www.2shared.com/file/8968862/c3bb6ad5/troops.htmlUploaded a new troops.txt since I just saw that the Menevero Lanze Spezzate (aka elite pikeman) was missing from the upgrade tree. Sorry.
Okay...faction unit summaries...tonight I'll be talking about the Deltorians...
They're inspired by the classical medieval armies, the Swadians, the knights from Prophesy of Pendor, Vikings, you name it.
Without further ado...
Deltorian Serf - The poor, overworked serf usually stays in his village for his whole life. Occasionally if a lord sees fighting potential in some particularly strong/durable men there's a chance he'll force them to join his army. These serfs will go into battle with whatever tool they had on hand and perhaps a handful of stones. They won't have armor.
Upgrades to Deltorian Spear Militia and Deltorian Peasant Bowman.
Deltorian Spear Militia - IF the serfs survive a few battles and manage to not die from the sergeant-at-arms training (they're a hardy people, in most cases they'll survive) then they are given (or are allowed to keep some loot) a shield and spear in Physaio fashion. They won't have armor either. These spear militia are found defending their villages, but most of the time they'll be drafted to follow a lord.
Upgrades to Deltorian Footman and Deltorian Raiders.
Deltorian Peasant Bowman - These serfs were found to have some talent in shooting the bow, or maybe they had prior hunting experience. Whatever the case, they now serve as ranged units. Armed with only a knife and wearing shirts, they won't last very long in a melee against anyone.
Upgrades to Deltorian Archers.
Deltorian Footman - These men form the backbone of most Deltorian armies. Not known for standardized equipment, they carry whatever they've managed to loot off the enemy, be it swords, axes, maces, padded armor, shields... A few of them also carry throwing axes or javelins as a sidearm, an imitation of the Seisun Dreigun raiders that constantly plague the Deltorian lands.
Upgrades to Deltorian Infantry.
Deltorian Raiders - Raiders are light cavalry armed with round shields and axes and armored with light leather. They ride on fast horses and try to sweep through the enemy.
Upgrades to Deltorian Mounted Sergeants.
Deltorian Archer - Those peasant bowman who were not cut down by enemy cavalry or managed to survive a skirmish accrue enough experience to become official archers. Being able to wear padded armor and using stronger bows, they're actually dangerous enough to pose a threat to the enemy.
Upgrades to Deltorian Longbowmen.
Deltorian Infantry - These experienced footmen have looted some better armor. Otherwise their equipment remains unchanged. They are a solid group of infantry.
Upgrades to Deltorian Men-at-Arms and Deltorian Squires.
Deltorian Mounted Sergeants - Mounted sergeants are medium cavalry who are supposed to act as a support for the knights. They can chase off light cavalry which knights have trouble catching up to and can join in the charge when needed.
Upgrades to Deltorian Dvor Cavalry.
Deltorian Longbowmen - These veteran archers use the powerful longbow in combat and also have swords and axes instead of knives, increasing their survivability by quite a bit. They're still weak to cavalry attacks and dedicated melee fighters.
Upgrades to Deltorian Yeomen.
Deltorian Men-at-Arms - These Deltorian infantry are some of the strongest warriors in all of Kanyrlia. Carrying two-handed weapons and clothed in heavy surcoats, they are the pinnacle of assault infantry and are very lethal in sieges, whether in the defense or the offense.
Deltorian Squires - Those Deltorian Infantry who have been observed to have aptitude for intelligence, chivalry and other knightly qualities may become squires for a knight. Squires are given the same equipment as mounted sergeants, and they usually perform those same duties as well with their masters on the battlefield. They have the potential to become some of the most powerful warriors of all Kanyrlia.
Upgrades to Deltorian Chivalric Knights.
Deltorian Dvor Cavalry - These experienced mounted sergeants also use the bow in battle, making them horse archers of a sort. While their archery is inferior to that of the WuXia, they are still invaluable in melee combat, which they primarily excel at.
Deltorian Yeomen - These elite longbowmen have higher proficiencies and they also carry shields as well as bodkin arrows. Their arrows usually find their targets...
Deltorian Chivalric Knights - These warriors ride into battle on elegantly-clothed Chargers and use morningstars, swords of war, or lances to beat their foes into submission. Their plate armor shrugs off most weapons (except for bullets and armor-piercing weapons and the strongest of pikemen) and they are unstoppable in a charge.
