Reticule
« on: September 04, 2009, 03:43:57 AM »
I have been playing this mod for less than half and our and I am really enjoying it. Really great Viking immersion, great scenes and equipment. There in only one thing that really bothers me, the reticule. Its not very visible, it blends in with the background at times and well I just don't like it. Would anybody mind pointing out the specific code segment for it so that i can copy and paste the original one or any other that it more visible.

Any help is appreciated :D

I think this is answered in the FAQ thread.

Also, you can't see the old reticule either. :P

Give it time, and you will want nothing but this.

True salesmanship as you stand by your mod :D I like it. Thanks for your quick responses guys. I WILL try this new reticule for a while longer.

A couple of other questions: I have encountered some boars and have noticed a few things that puzzle me:

1. Melee weapons simply don't work on them which seems odd (I spent a long time jabbing one with a spear on every angle possible with no result)

2. With my power throw of 6 and proficiency at about 240 it took about 10 javelins for one boar to go down, is this intended?

3. When I approach one one I get the prompt saying that I have an inappropriate riding skill level to ride it. This is an imported character from a game where it was a steppe nomad, I have 8 in riding.

Again any help is appreciated.

1. You have to hit them with ranged weapons only. This was Ruthven's intention for the hunting mod. It's not so easy as running up and stabbing them.

2. Yes, but I plan to make it a tad easier I think with the next release. We shall see if I get to them. The problem is if it's too easy food becomes too easy to collect for free. This short of ties in with point 1 as you're restricted on how much you can collect by the amount ammo of your ranged weapons. I'll no doubt make it easier but lower the pack/herd numbers per party.

3. They have a riding requirement of 12 or so. This was intended as this is a no-horse mod and we didn't want people to take them as mounts. For fun you can edit your character and give him higher riding skill and that should work.

Great that takes care of my doubts :D. And don't worry I have no fantasies about riding a boar into battle.

I just had my first battle at sea and 1 minutes into it I was backpedaling while facing some pirates and fell into the water. I am guessing you should avoid this at all cost since I was stuck at the bottom of the sea (was about 4-5 meters deep as I could see the hull of my ship very close). I wondered the sea bed for a while looking for a way up, but no luck, I did find a sunken ship though...it was very close so could it have been of the f the ones that assaulted us? Do they sink?

AFAIK, no, the ships don't sink.

They don't sink, but don't fall off of boats for now. Someday this will be fixed so we can make sure you die.

Indeed with all that encumbrance one should definitely drown. So then that sunken ship...what was that? Intended scene deco?

Well then it looks liked you didn't see the treasure chest in it....

No, I'm kidding.

Or am I?

I hope you realize you made me waste 10 minutes of my life searching for a chest.... :P

In all seriousness this ship was just like the ones as the ones the were afloat, it was just upside down at the bottom with the mast into the sand/rock, although part of the sail could be seen sticking out of the ground.

How did it get there? Is it intended as part of the scene?

Yup. Poor souls lost their ship in the battle.  :(
