Also I'd prefer if it took place somewhere in Europe, though that doesn't matter all that much I guess.

Personally I think a post-apocalyptic situation would be most interesting in the least developed areas of the world, IE Central Africa and Southeast Asia. Getting decent food and lodging is difficult enough in those places as it is, and in Africa at least there's already people that might want to shoot you. But that's just me.

I like the idea.
But not the Fallout lore as I'm unaware of that.

How about a major disease causing billions of people to die.
The only survivors are immune to it, but are now with so few that all forms of government have disappeared.
The world is largely deserted and the big cities are controlled by a few gangs.

Of course there has to be some sort of cause. Like freeing a town or small country from criminals and make it a safehaven for all remaining people on Earth. Form a new, small civilization and build a new town on the ruins of an other.

The thing about having a pre-created setting like Fallout is that it already has it's own lore. So RP-ing it easier, not saying it doesn't have it's down sides, but as I've seen lately most RP seem to die out because they don't have enough things to do or people don't just know what they can and can't do. Thus the fallout's "set to stone" lore would make things easier.
Or we could just take some setting (be it Fallout universe or someting else) and change it up a little, so it would fit our preferences but still wouldn't have any plot holes or other nasty things. So everyone would actually know what the **** is going on.

I'm thinking of starting one, the Duck & Spackle looks like it's going a little slow still. Homemade setting, but one that I'm going to let people alter as they want as long as it doesn't violate anything previously written. I'm thinking of launching after Easter celebrations so it doesn't start out with a break.

EDIT: Suspended, unable to manage more than my current writing load without a drop in quality.

Wow, the Tavern's been pretty inactive for a while.

I just don't know, I guess it seems all the RPs have slowed down or died. I always thought of one MEGA-RP THREAD where it would always be alive considering it would have all five-eight+ of us in it, but that day will never come... *sobs*

And I just don't really have the time to RP. I can be active on other boards, because I use my computer for work and a five-minute-break on TW is acceptable.

Mayhaps a low Fantasy RP? (D&D maybe, but really going for something a bit more serious/grim than most fantasy. With little magic and ambiguous morality.)

I have been sort of tempted to start one for some time, we could form a simple party and then travel off in search of adventure.  :D

I think it depends, if a loose structure is imposed on the party then people could arrive and leave rather easily.

Say that party journeys to place A with 6 people, along the way two go inactive, all that would be needed was a logical explanation and you could have them depart. For example Character Tom learned that his father was dying and had to go home.

Worst case characters could simply be killed off, i.e. party goes to fight some bandits, player goes inactive, character is hit by arrow falls into river and is assumed dead.  :D



If structure is far too loose then I could see the RP dieing for exactly the same reason. As characters might not be anywhere near each other and no real "goal" or "story" would necessarily develop.

One problem there, the D&S wants quality RP'ing.
People like Kopaka will get a blanc check if we drop that requirement. (I'm sorry, but I thought a name was quite acceptable and clear here.)

In what cases?

So far I have only seen it be GM based or general player opinion based on the more democratic threads(such as BfT). On the dedicated post to RP forums, there are usually assigned moderators for a single RP thread.

Usually it is pretty apparent when someone is perhaps not a good participant or at least it has been in the past. (i.e. lack of activity, god moding, acting for other players without permission, poor spelling/grammar on a basic level, etc)

Úlfheðinn, I think you're being a bit naive over there.
You know very well that the people who get kicked out usually don't understand a shit of it and they remain an obstacle until they get banned or something. BfT is, by the way, the only real democratic thread out there because it's GM never posted a second time.

I think we should start with everyone agreeing that we won't abandon a thread anymore just like that.
I know that's naive as well, but how can you make an RP less dependent on the individual?
We can't all play side-plots, can we? We'll just have to change our attitude first.
