Weapon Expansion (For 0.730)
« on: January 04, 2006, 07:08:09 PM »
I was lookin for a new weapon around the shops, but wasn't finding just what I was lookin for, so, I've added 34 new swords to the game.  They are all based on the Next Generation line from Albion Armourers.  I'll be adding more weapons of other kinds little by little, but this has me really burnt out.

Download  Note: This is the full version, has all the new weapons and troops now carry them, enjoy.

Theres a new map I've stuck in with the mod (Pic below), if you don't like it, copy the map.txt and parties.txt from your Native folder and you'll have the vanilla map again.

They all do the same damage as their original M&B types, the only difference is the way they look, so you have 34 different variations of swords, one handed, two handed, bastard swords, Viking swords.  There are a few more I can add later, but this is all for now.  All of the existing troops are now armed with the new swords.

3 Polehammers

Oh, and the vertical spikes on the hammers all work.

I don't particularly like falchions but I love the new berserker blade. I know it's the same as the falchion and only the looks have changed. But I'll take the berserker beter anyway. Even the river pirates look more dangerous with them. I like it, good work RR_raptor65

Screenshots from anyone? I can't download this until later to get a look at it.

I -LOVE- Albion's swords and I've been pushing for someone to do some new swords for awhile (particularly the Squire and Sovereign, which are my favourites).

You really did do an excellant job, My friend has a baron and your model looks just like it, I will definately be using many of these in dark mod. The weapons by themselves almost got me hooked on the vanilla M&B again! :D

Keep up the good work!

These swords are really great, but a bit high poly, not? What's the avarage polycount on 'em? Well, I was planning on doing a sword pack like that for the HYW, but I see you already made one, and a fine one too.
good job.

Screenies for you:

A few are a bit high poly, but most are around 200-500 polys.  Some, like the Sovereign for example are higher poly, 700-800 for those.  I can go and get a polycount on em all if you really want specifics...

Wow. Realy great swords! I absolutely love them, especialy the two handed swords. I have a suggestion for them, however. Most of the two-handed swords look more like hand and a half, or bastard swords. It would be better, I think, if you changed these to one or two handed use. Regardless, spectacular weapons. I just can't get over how cool they are.

If he based them on the Albion swords then it's obvious why some of the two-handers look kind of small... because real two-hand swords look like that.

Downloaded it... and these are amazing. The Squire, Prince, and Sovereign have been my favourite swords since they were just drawings on the Albion site and it's wonderful to see them in the game. Really gorgeous work.

I hope AW throws most (or all!) of these into his Lord of the Rings mod.. which would just make my day.

Speaking of which, IS there a way to get these into the LotR mod without doing anything severe? I'm totally computer illiterate.. but I want my Gondorian Knight to be swinging around a Squire or Prince!

Thanks for the great weapons pack. Truly awesome.

(These need to be added to the Hundred Years War mod too, that would look great!)

All that ego-stroking aside.. I did notice that some of the weapons (particularly the viking swords) are too big.. and could do with being sized down just a notch. The Vinland and Clontarf, for example, are, in real life, just a tad smaller than the Squire.
