Are Demon Warriors Unkillable?

I just head-shot a Demon Warrior 3 times along with enough shots to the torso to have her looking like a bald-headed porcupine.  I did at least 400 and probably more like 700 and she still didn't die.

Then she hit me with a single spear that did over 100 -- and it wasn't even a head-shot, it did that much damage through ~60 points of body armor.

So what's the deal?  Just how much damage can they take?  Are they unkillable?

999 is Demon warrior HP, I think I read it somewhere.

Just today I noticed one of those armies finally got wore down, they had 6 of them earlier, down to one and a dozen or so henchmen, 4 of my Lady Valkyries got her pinned and eventually beat her down. I think their strength is 700, agility 50, charisma 30, level 60, health 753.

These are the stats of the Demonic Warrior from the current beta version. Tough, but not exactly unkillable.

After thinking about it a bit, I went back this morning and looked again at the stats of the one I captured and turned (I'm still not sure how I lucked out on that ) and found those I gave above were no mistake on my part (700 strength!!!), I'm glad the next batch wont be quite such super-women. My Lady Valkyries pinned her up against a forked tree and she was in a situation where she couldn't use her weapons in self defense so they eventually got the better of her. I fought a couple before and got whipped so quick it was enough to make me very wary of them. In a much earlier fight with them, I found the best chance against them is to attack their horse first, get them on the ground where they can't use their weapons quite so effectively. I can't hurt them much, but one of the reasons I really like the Valkyries is their speed and agility, along with an axe use against armor, and they have far better aim than I do. They're like angry hornets buzzing around and as long as they keep moving where they don't get beat on,they last quite  well against any opponents, even the demons. So I think a tactic I'd try with them is to have Valkyries in your army, and concentrate all your attacks on killing the demon's horse and get them on the ground where they can't fight back so well. The Valkyries will be like a band of Apaches around them then.

I did over 250 just from the 3 headshots, so that Beta demon is definitely a nerf.

193 health is too low for demonic warriors. This pretty much makes dealing with heretic armies a breeze once you become a mid-high level character, and get access to elite troops. I think they should be at least 500 hp, so they are still the most feared unit type in all the game.

I think, and no offense is intended, that you might want to wait and see how all the changes come together before making that statement. The changes to individual troops and troop line balance is only the smallest part of the coming feature explosion.

Also, any troop stats are still fluid based on play testing. If the beta tests come to the conclusion the demonic warriors are too weak with the current stats I don't doubt that Saxondragon will bump them to a more appropriate level.

For the Demonic warriors and such, I am going the other way, making very very high strength armor that is exceptionally tough rather than making them have so many hit points.  Besides this, there was an unforeseen limitation that would be difficult to get around in the source code regarding maximum levels of strength.  It is easy if you are tweaking text files, but we are not doing that any longer..  So.. this seemed like an elegant solution...reduce the amount of damage that they normally take by increasing their armor to levels that you would expect from a Demonic creature.. and make said armor all but impossible for a player or companion to actually wear.

More.. much more.. 150 or so.. You will see it hopefully in the next beta release..

If you see a party named "Eyegrim the Devourer" and you notice that it defeats every lord that tries to engage it in battle, keep your distance

Kicked Demon Warrior's ass.  Felt good.

I followed your advice and took out the horse first.  Went 2-H on the bastard sword and with a couple of Empire infantry troops joining in she never stood a chance.  She spent most of the time trying to get her thousand-hitpoint ass off the ground.

All in a day's work.   

Now that I've beaten one I can offer my 2 cents: it's ok to have an almost-unkillable badass if it's unique.  Getting ganked by 2 dozen irredeemably sucks, especially if they've got 150-points-per-shot missile weapons they're popping you with while you try to concentrate your efforts on one.
If you only hit us with like 1-3 per army you don't need to nerf them.
