First thing from google. Batoto's only good if you have time to gawk at details. If you're a speed reader like me, you'll no appreciate Batoto's massive load size. That said, horror's the only genre I generally gawk for details.

I actually just use batoto cause of the cleaner interface. Plus it's got that cool little follow feature thing that shows you what manga you read has recently been updated.

I try to avoid unofficial scanlations though. I just can't help it with some series (ahem TWGOK).

Just made it back home.
Berserk was ******** AWESOME. It was better than the old tv show. IN (almost) EVERY WAY. The animations werent that bad. Sure, it was noticeable that it used cg, but it wasnt that bad. It was a lot better than the old shows copypaste animations. You know them. And the lovely uncensored gore. Oh that was absolutely lovely. And it has nipples. Women actually have nipples. Amazing. The film series is going to be a blast. I didnt expect it to be that good. I honestly didnt.

And I got two books I have wanted to buy for a long time. And Spice&Wolf novels in a month or so. I feel happy.

( Probably fucked up my exam and got another this week, but **** that. They wont ruin my happiness.)

If you think that's butchering, watch Haiyore! Nyaruko-san, I cannot stress enough how bad the atrocities that show commits to the Cthulhu Mythos are. It's so ******** awesome.

That sounds like a good fun! Well.. at least if you first brace yourself and make mental preparations for whatever is coming.

Vampire Hunter D

I was just thinking Vampire Hunter D in other day. It's couple of years now after I watched the movies. Does anyone know somewhat similar anime? With vampires, good combat and a decent story that is?

So, could I get a bunch of suggestions for Samurai Anime? They have to be dubbed though. I like watching them from bed, and I'm borderline-legally blind, so I can't read subs from any distance away. Failing that, Steampunk anime are pretty good as well. Oh, and I have of course seen Rouroni Kenshin, Samurai Champloo, and Samurai 7. I just need something to watch after I finish FMA: Brotherhood. I've got my fingers crossed for a less depressing ending than FMA.

I have no idea why it was shown in a backwater place like Estonia. Some yearly Japanese Animation Film Festival = JAFF. It was clear that the translation was hurriedly done, kind of sucked. But it was done. It should be out on dvds sometime this autumn. But the second part should be out this summer.
There were also some parts cut out. Like for example the first battle Guts had with Band of the Hawk. That night battle. That wasnt in there. Only some little things irritated me, but they didnt take away from the overall experience at all.
Movie ended with Griffit`s speech about dreams and friendship and stuff to Charlotte.

I imagine you wont be able to see it anytime soon unless you have some similar event thing nearby.

Yeah, VIZ Media is coming out with the official english dub this Fall. You seem to have gotten lucky with that festival though Sartek. :U

Tried Blood+? Also, just stay away from Rosario + Vampire. That anime was shit.

As for Nyaruko, the 4th episode came out yesterday. I shall be watching it soon.

Oh hey Rie Kugimiya is in this!

Thanks, I'll check Blood+ out. 50 episodes! Hell yeah! Biggest issue with animes I tend to have is, that they end too soon :P

Clicking some links I managed to find some more vampire themed animes:

Hellsing - I think this has been praised earlier in thread, so should be good.

Trinity Blood, Blood-C, Black Blood Brothers, Dance in the Vampire Bund, Shingetsutan Tsukihime, Vampire Knight.  - there may or may not be decent animes amongst them, going to research them more carefully if I run out of anime to watch. 12-24 episode length average.

Oh well, as long as they don't glitter, I guess it's all right. Still, posting that many vampire animes made me feel like a teenage girl. Now I'll have to go and do some manly stuff right away to shrug that uneasy feeling off!

Blood-C was a curious one. It goes from "a bad highschool comedy with Monster of the Week" to quite possibly the most violent anime I've watched.
At the end it turned out the whole series was basically a prelude to the upcoming movie, so don't expect a satisfying conclusion.

Thanks, I'll check Blood+ out. 50 episodes! Hell yeah! Biggest issue with animes I tend to have is, that they end too soon :P
Blood+ was kind of shite for a good portion of the anime, but turns decent enough towards the latter half. The protagonist has the charisma of a moldy brick, but at least she stops spontaneously growing makeup in fights, and some of the other characters are interesting enough.

Another up-side to Batoto is that it seems the /a/ scanlation team releases there earliest and nowadays it seems /a/ is the only one doing decent english (not engrish) translating.

Man, dat Hyouka cliff-hanger.
