Explain yourself. You can't just post a pic and expect us to infer the rest.

Don't flame me up for expressing my opinion, but I believe that I've seen that Great Helmet the Knight is wearing in The 1257 Edition and the Shields in the HYW mod.... Do tell me if I'm wrong and they're just retextured Native stuff...

Erm......good luck for the mod!

Forgot to write about that. :?

You did ask permission, right? People who make textures/models/mods etc can get very angry if you took something from their mod without permission... (i.e. the HYW shields and the 1257 helmet) See the "THE 17 AGE" mod thread for an example of this.

Good luck! (well for the mod and the permission)

Are you aware that this is already a completed mod about the exact subject matter (excluding France)?  The mod is Britain 1297, and a lot of really good work went into that, so you should check it out.

Also, are you going for history or imitation of Braveheart?  I'm just asking where you're going with this.

If you know who William Wallace was or have seen Braveheart, you know when the mod takes place.

William Wallace has nothing to do with Braveheart and the movie has nothing to do with history or reality.

Anyway, good luck with your mod.

Santa, no need to be stern to him. Its fine to make such a mistake since the time period has been juiced so much and so many textures exist that are quite similar to each other. It becomes hard to see which ones are made by whom.

@ Barry, William Wallace has nothing to do with Braveheart:shock:
Mel Gibson's character was based on William Wallace.

The only imitation of braveheart is some of the weapons.
So William Wallace is not going 2 fight 4 freedom in this mod, this mod is an imitation of Britian around year:1290.

I will work more on the map 2 make it more look like Britain, but for now i'm working on some moddeling and stuff  8-)

Well, it was a good movie, as for history we'll simply never know what really happened. Archeologists and Historians still kepp contesting things that happened 50 years ago... so for older stuff, you can imagine the mess  :P

You are right that there are discrepancies, but we do know a lot about the real William Wallace, and the movie's blatant disregard for history can't even fall back on discrepancies.

The only imitation of braveheart is some of the weapons.
So William Wallace is not going 2 fight 4 freedom in this mod, this mod is an imitation of Britian around year:1290.

Well there's a bit of Braveheart from what I see so far, that's why I ask.  Particularly the English uniforms and the Scottish kilts - a complete invention of Braveheart.  Scots didn't wear kilts back then, much less into battle.  That's why I was asking.

@ Barry, William Wallace has nothing to do with Braveheart:shock:
Mel Gibson's character was based on William Wallace.

Actually yes, Mel Gibson's character has nothing to do with William Wallace.

William Wallace was born into privilege, not major privilege but was certainly not a poor farmer.  He became a rebel when he broke the law (by some sources poaching and by others illegally carrying a sword) and sought shelter with his rich uncle.  He participated at the Battle of Stirling Bridge in 1297, was squarely defeated at Falkirk, and was betrayed by a Scottish knight (not the Bruces), turned in and executed.

He was by some accounts brutal to his enemies, placed progress above morality, and supported John Balliol as king.

Mel Gibson's caricature is a super-hero, who joins because he wife is murdered and raped by the English (what the hell?).  He shows up in a kilt and blue war paint (good Christ) and slaughters English by the handful.  He goes around singing freedom all the time (although the real Wallace never cared about the freedom of the common man), is brave and moralistic, and he's the perfect hero.

So yes, when you look at it, Mel Gibson and Randall Wallace took the name William Wallace and made the rest up.  One has nothing to do with the other.  They based him on someone who doesn't exist and gave him a real person's name.
