Well you all know me, for better or worse.

I've already 'clocked' Baldur's Gate 1 and the Expansion, Tales of the Sword Coast.

After that, I felt like trying out some cheats.

I cheked the net and yep; I found cheat codes.

I do what I'm instructed to do, but every time I attempt to enter a cheat I get the following message:

lua: syntax error:
> last token read: “eof” at line 1 in file (dostring) >> (insert cheat here)

In the place of (insert cheat here), simply place one of the many cheats I've tried which don't want to work because of this one error.

I tried the cheats in BG 1 and got the error.
I tried installing the expansion... and got the error.
I tried downloading th latest pacth of the expansion... and got the error.

If anyone could give me any advice (on how to fix the program) I would much appreciate it.

Honestly, I don't have any idea what it's talking about.

Thanks in advance for any help.

1. Make sure you've edited the ini to activate the cheats
2. Make sure you're typing the correct cheats in. BG2 used a different call, but IIRC BG1 is

CLUAConsole: <cheat goes here>

Note the capitalisation is important.

Hm... I've tried doing CLUAConsole: (cheat here), but either it comes up with the original error message or it says 'Error File does not exist'

Oh and yeah; I typed 'Cheats=1' under game options in the .ini file as per the instructions...

This is rather perplexing... any ideas, Arch?

Sorry to be gobbling up your time... hope you like puzzles like this...

EUREKA!

I love that word; I always liked the idea of the underdog fighting bravely... (Eureka Stockade...)

I needed to do CLUAConsole:CreateItem("Insert item to create here")

I wasn't doing the talking marks!

Thanks again, Arch.
