The textures are perfect, but the font is ugly and unreadable (for now).

The font won't work; it's too small to be legible but I can't increase the size as although it appears small, it takes up all of the room due to the fancy curves on the captital letters. I'd need to be able to create a new font.dds from scratch and I don't know how to do that. There's a guide in this forum but I think it's out of date. It's a shame because I think that style of font goes well with the game.

Personally I'm not a fan of the management screens. I understand how difficult it is to edit the font files well (I've made a couple of attempts myself), but I'm still not convinced if yours is superior to native's.
Your terrain, building and sky stuff looks brilliant though! One question though, will you be using mipmaps to make the horizon lighter or darker?

The screen itself or the font? I'm scrapping the font for now but I'm almost certainly going to do something along those lines (as in the table + scrolls look) for the management screens.

As for the mip maps, I don't have photoshop and a few times over the last few months I've looked around for a GIMP mipmap editor plug-in with no success. Not just adjusting brightness, but also contrast, hue, saturation, blurring etc. As for lighter/darker, lighter during the day and darker at nights would be ideal but obviously that would require different textures for night and day, and if I had to choose I'd go with lighter mipmaps.

Maybe you could get someone to do it for you after you release the pack?

I don't think that was hard as first three versions weren't very good, and the first was utter shit . It's just experience; when I started I hadn't textured before, based them off native textures and used crude techniques to 'enhance' them, and now I'm comfortable creating my own from scratch or from photos. It's likethe difference between having to make do with what you've got, and being able to create exactly what you want.

Not a huge fan of the grass textures

Do you think it looks too much like a blanket of grass? It's looking a bit like that to me.

I think something we need to remember with castles is that in the era they were seldom bare rock.

Looks great though.

I'm not sure what you mean? Do you mean grout (all of the examples there have it)?

Edit: Bloom is a shader that basically gives a glow effect, also making things shiny. Games tend to significantly overdo it.

I was searching the forum for any discussion on shaders and found a thread that claimed to offer fake HDR. Turns out the guy ripped of an Oblivion modder, but it does actually work to an extent. I've been playing around with it and haven't got quite what I was hoping for, but it does add some some more depth to the graphics of the game. The results I've seen are basically bloom and benefit the metal, sky and torches the most. It makes for incredibly awesome looking swords.
