Alright, so, to get things started. We have been quite silent for few months. This has been due to a planning of a grand reboot of the whole RW mod . This new reboot's original intention was to lore-merge the Imperial Age and Blood and Steel mods' lores with Red Wars' lore. But due to a few clashing opinions about the subject of it being too Imperial Age-lore oriented we have decided to let the people decide! So, what would you prefer? An Imperial Age oriented lore which includes the following; removing Balion (Pseudo-America), Khergits (Pseudo-Red China), New Albion (Pseudo-Commonwealth/Canada/UK) and Helvetia (Pseudo-Prussia), adding Lannswig (Pseudo-Prussia) , Ancien (Pseudo-France), Castillo (Pseudo-Civil war Spain), Gottemark (Pseudo-Scandinavia) and Great Alvion (Pseudo-UK). This option would have a lot more background lore written for it ready, but it would also remove some of the more unique features of the mod. We also have the option to keep the lore-related matters the way it has always been. E.g. Having the silly humour, keeping Balion the way it is and being completely independent from what the ImperialGames mod group will do for their mods. Anyhow this is ultimately up to you, do you want a bit more serious mod, with strong ties to Imperial Age and Blood & Steel mods or do you want to keep this mod as unique as possible. If you could also think of any compromises that would also be of great help! Peace the **** out, now go and debate!

I cast my vote, It might be slightly biasaed. I still think splitting the mod into two with the original one going more Diesel Punk/Zee Rust was the better idea.

Keep in mind that we've already come pretty far in developing the IA oriented mod. The uniforms for Castillo, Gottemark, Alvion, Ancia and Lannswig are already finished.

Gee, I don't know, having the People's Republic Of khergits is too damn awesome to let pass.

I vote for making your own Lore, sure it would be nice to have a "string" of mods depicting a certain timeline but looking at the orginal M&B I always pictured Calradia as a sort of... Balkanized Crossroads of Cultures which accidentally got together and formed the Calradian Empire... Accidentally.

The problem with any Lore, is geography. Calradia could be a continent, and in that case the distances are huge and every village will eventually become a small town or a veritable city. Each part of the continent has it's own distinct culture and will always be divided along those lines and the Calradian Empire will forever remain a fluke or a myth as it might have well been.

But if Calradia is just a piece of land then within a continent, then the distances are small and it is indeed a crossroad of cultures that are part of much larger nations not visible on the regular map. I would imagine the Rhodocks having more land south of Jelkala, across the water. The Sarranids would have more towns south of them in the desert. The Khergits have more land the steppes to the east as do the Vaegris in the frozen eastern steppes. The Nords would also come from some "Scandinavian peninsula to the north and Swadia... Well.... They might have come from the sea to the west, or better yet, they have colonized to the west?

These Albion and... Whatserfaces could be just that. Anyway, that is my two cents. Whatever you gents decide, Awesome Mod!

I love this mod, but I also love the Balion faction and I'd hate to see them go. So I'd say create your own lore, however if you do decide to merge the lore with IA at least try to keep Balion in it? Maybe have them secede from IA's Alvion faction sometime during the 120 years between both mods.

I voted for Imperial Age oriented. I think being able to play from the Imperial Age, to Blood & Steel, then The Red Wars would make for some great immersion and lore. I had hoped the two would be merged like this since I first played The Red Wars, back when Imperial Age was still known as Mount & Empire. Geographical continuity between the 3 mods would be pretty cool too. Good luck in continuing the mod, whatever the result

Not too split or tie things but I would love to see possibly just a few renames maybe? No need to compromise on designs. I especially like the continued ideas on Swadia, the Nords, and Vaegirs.

I don't mind the changes being made to the stuff I've written, but a huge amount of work was put into new uniforms and weapons for both old and redone factions behind the scenes these last few months has also happened.

Some of which might not fit being simply stuck into some of the older factions.

Balion in my eyes simply needs to be renamed Usonia, and the Khergits renamed the Chengdao and relocated else where. The Not Canadians can of course stay and be merged with the other old fashioned state or made neighbors. More of a case of jiggling geography around.

Here is the Red Wars lore I spent a few hours putting together if the module changes over.

I wrote up a nice intro to be used on the Mod DB page as well in my own spare time.

Forgive the WW1 stuff, I got carried away. I did ask Walrus to consider turning that all into a video clip art thingy with the maps and the arrows and old WW1 Photographs.

That's sort of the issue, you take it way too seriously. A little b-movie silliness is what makes red wars great.

EDIT:Yeah B - movie sillyness isn't the best term, you guys are right. Red Wars is more like a playable political cartoon.

There is nothing silly or comical about our enlightened ideology nor the new order that will usher Calradia into a golden age once every Swadia, Nord, Sarranid, Rhodock and Vaegris embrace it!

I take my roleplaying very seriously.

EDIT: Also, epic read!

Honestly, besides a few of the slightly silly elements such as the mass teacups and Hitler expy, I don't see much silliness in this mod.

Some people find the b-movie feel, some dont. that's why the votes are so split right now.

We may not have that silly B-movie feel, but we do wish to convey a vibrant world, filled with ungodly amounts of imperial bravado and bluster inspired by the badassery that is Sharpe, and we do it whilst putting forward a plausible low fantasy world heavily inspired by reality.

Aside from the vibrant feel, doing this lore merge will allow us to create more vibrant faction; Instead of having four Nazi Germanys that vary only in name, you could have France, Britain, Spain, Sweden and Holland.

Contrary to what Commie may think, the "ideology" war has been present ever since Imperial Age, where it was Republicans facing off against Imperialists, whilst B&S focuses exclusively on the Imperialist aims of early capitalist nations and colonial powerhouses whilst old Imperial powers scramble to survive.

In the IA vision of RW, this continues, where fascists are fighting communists, and communists are fighting capitalists and so on. This ideological war is most present in Castillo, where the nation is split in half between fascists and socialists, whilst pro-coalition royalist forces fight viciously against everyone else.

I would prefer this mod to be a little more serious, there is a lot of stuff that is kind of silly like having all the Mech Nazis with OP machine guns and other things like Moose Cavalry. The only thing I would ask you kept in would be a Pseudo-America faction. I think it would be awesome if it took place in the 1900s-1910s so we would have a lot of the cool bolt-actions from that time like the Krag-Jorgensen Rifle, Springfield M1903, and Lee Enfield.

a little advice castillo in spansih dont sounds as a country. In spanish most of the countries end in -a(Inglaterra, Argentina,...) or -ia(Francia, India, Bolivia,...) obviously there are exceptions( Japon, Chile, Mejico,...) but is just and advice if you want to change the name .

I always thought that the essence of this mod is it's unique interpretation of a future Calradia in a setting that is far from serious with nothing in the lore that must be too deep. I think that's the strongest point of the mod. I'm quite happy that Canada and America are finally in a pseudo-historical mod, a place that is usually solely reserved for European factions. I'm also looking forward to the Mexican faction that is supposed to be included if I take look at the votes. In short, I prefer the status quo.

I voted for Imperial Age oriented, but I have some questions regarding Lannswig. First of all, Helvetia was by far my favourite nation because it was a monarchy, it had a Prussian feel and very nice uniforms. So, will Lannswig keep those things? That is, is it a kingdom/monarchy? And how are the uniforms, are they still the Helvetian black with golden details, or are they totally different? And do they use pickelhaubes?
