That lad's got talent

I don't know about others, but at times I get attached to certain members of my characters party. For example, my Swadian allied Knight (skilled with the Warsword, the great Lance and the Jousting Lance) has two sword sisters he's had since about day 30 (it's day 96 now), both with different looks, and both who've managed to save the day a few times. Maybe, if certain Non-named NPCs reach the top level and survive for 50 days at that level (and even a random chance element could be added), there could be a dialogue option where your character has the option of asking "what's your name?", at which point the individual gains a name, and is treated like a named NPC character, like Marnid or Borcha. The downsides of making the character named is you have to fill a party spot with this one person, rather then a larger group. The upside is you can chose how their development continues, and arm them yourself.

Thoughts?

wow i really like that idea... if you have someone whos made it with you that long, they should be treated as a hero character... it could actually be a great goal to have

I've seen this idea before.

Basically you've gotten so emotionally attached to certain units that you can't bear the thought of losing them, so you post this idea in the hopes that you'll be able to immortalise them.

As for the idea itself, i don't have any opinion for or against.

Not really 'intensely emotionally attached', since my Swadian Knight lost his nearly all of entire crew. He accepted a mission to protect a caravan, and it was being menaced by a V warparty. Though outnumbered two to one, he took them on, walking away victorious, though his party no long numbers 45, now it numbers 8.

I just think it would add a level of narrative to the game, especially if the "that lad's got talent" thing is VERY rare, helping to make every single character and his party unique. People who have conquered the game could end up with a 'command' group of about 3 or 4 heros, and a vast army of minions behind them.

I was just wondering. You do continuous missions for a faction to get promoted for piss weak pay when in one day of hunting you make more money than you will in your whole military career!

As such with promotions wouldn't it be an idea if the faction your alligned with after you do them bloody raise asaid troop value and give them to me! (Your a count you do it you slack fu**!) quests are down, then that class should be recruitable, in proportional numbers from that city?

With the command group idea, why can't we tell Mandrid or Borscha to act as Luitenants to our army and have controll of his own separate group but directly controlled by us. Even if the original design script works like the escort caravan quest style except, he won't keep asking what to do each time he catches up to you, and in battles can be worked just like when you aid an ally on the battlefield. Evectivly you get double the units MUHAHAHA  Not that you need them when half of your party consits of knights in the 10+ range andeverything but war parties get FUBAR!

I'd like it if you could seperate barnid and morcha to be generals of different armies. You can sort of do it currently, but they only stay in a certain place, and only move when there is a large army after them. I'd like to be able to order them to follow me, and attack that party over there and all this stuff.

Interesting fact: marnid and borcha can't be given any more than 28 units when separated from you. But if they take part in battles they can get more than that, and prisoners too.

Eventually, but it's a bit more work than the last one.

I actually started one ages ago, and then Simetrial came along and said he'd do it. Well he's been inactive for some time now, so i guess he won't.

i really like this idea. i've had with me 4 hired blades and 5 slaver chiefs since the very beginning ( now day 64), specially the blades have come handy in fighting the vaegir infidels, and they really feel like family members.

I think we should be able to raise the corpses of our fallen enemies to create a vast army, a legion of undead, to wage war against our foes and smash them to goo!

And in seriousness, I like the idea about survivors in your army becoming more like heroes and being given actual identities instead of "Vaegir Knight #4" etc.
