[WB][Anim][OSP]Combat Animation Compilation OSP {2/18/13: WFAS testing, etc.}

(1/15) > >>

Sir Arvondor:
Combat Animation Compilation OSPBy Sir_Arvondor, with permissions from and credit to: Papa Lazarou, Jarbarkis, Dreamterror, Fuwa, and Ulrich von Liechtenstein.
The Native combat animations, while acceptable in some cases, I'm afraid are sorely lacking in others, namely melee animations, which are squarish and bear little resemblance to what I believe was realistic medieval combat. Many mods have tried to remedy this, and have done quite well, but the problem is that these mods are separate, and not compatible with one-and-other without a good deal of work, work that a non-modder may not be able to do, but these mods, if combined, would offer a great deal more variety in animations, so,

I have successfully combined most of the animations from the following mods:

Combat Animation Enhancement 5.0, (Papa Lazarou, Jabarkis), included, permission granted.
New Animations Mod (Warband), (Dreamterror), included, permission granted.
Knights of the Last Battle(Animations), (Fuwa, Ulrich von Liechtenstein), included, permission granted.
Kengeki Gaiden 2.0(Animations), (Toasticuss, Yuias, Dain Ironfoot), included, awaiting permission. (NOTE: I have been unable to find any contact information on Yuias, as he appears to no longer have an account here, so if anyone knows anything that might help me contact him, please say so.)

With these animations, I hope to vastly improve the visuals of melee combat, be it a four-hundred man infantry battle, a one-on-one duel with a hostile lord, an all around Rhodok tournament, a fist fight with a bothersome drunk, or, I hope one day, single combat on a multiplayer dueling server.

Trailers and Gameplay Videos
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWPvNq_UeiU&feature=youtu.beI know this video is crap, but hey, it's my first, so cut me a little slack, the animations are a lot better than they might look in the video.

Installation Instructions:
*I hope to include instructions for installation here when, and if, I can release the mod, until then, I have very little to say.*

Download Link:As I hope some of you will like the sound of this enough to say "When will it be released? Gimme the friggin download link!", I will answer your question right here and now: If I had permission, I would release it today, but seeing as I don't yet, I can't, so please stay calm and I'll see what I can do.

I made this a year or so ago for myself, slowly adding on to it, possibly with little thought of releasing it, but over the last couple months I've been working to get the permissions necessary to release it.

If you know a Warband mod, that has new or modded animations, that you feel would be a good addition to this compilation, please tell me. Thank you.

Volunteers needed:
Volunteer(s) needed to make a proper trailer, and possibly do some closed testing on the mod itself. Please post here or send me a PM or email if you wish to help.
Also: Calling all artists! If you like the idea behind this mod and want to help, I need people with artistic skill to make some proper banners/sigs for this mod. Please post here or send me a PM or email if you wish to help. Thank you!

Bugs and incompatibilities:
1.)Not multiplayer compatible. Might be compatible if everyone on the server used these animations, otherwise not compatible.
2.)Regarding WFAS: Not totally incompatible, however very buggy at times. For more info, see this post.

Notes:
1.) Note that when and if released this will be OSP, meaning you can use it in your mod, but please ask permission first by posting here or sending me a PM with your request. 98% of the time I'll allow you to use this in your mod with no trouble, I'm more interested in just finding out who'll be using this, and in what mod. What with people like Alex Dragon or that Icelan fellow trying to get their hands on other forumite's mods for hell knows what purposes, I think it's understandable for me to take precautions.
2.) Also, please give credit to everyone on my credit list (plus me of course :)) if you are going to use this compilation in your mod. Also note: If I have been inactive for more than, say, a couple months at the time you wish to use this compilation in your mod, you do not need to ask permission, but just credit me and everyone on my credit list. Thank you.
3.) And note that I'm a compiler, not an animator, so if you have a problem with the animations, it's probably not my problem, as I did not edit or make any of the animations.
4.) Also if any animator wishes to improve/edit these animations, I may not be able to allow it (don't be afraid to ask though :) ), as the animations are not mine, but if you have any ideas on how to improve the mod, do say!

Comrade Temuzu:
First of all, sweet, second of all, I would just forget about trying to reach Yuias and removing his work from the mod, thirdly, Im pretty sure Max isnt active these days. Havent seen him in ages anyway.

Also, would you be so kind as to post a video or something to demonstrate how the animations match together?

Sir Arvondor:
1.)Thanks!
2.)I can't,Yuias's animations are about half the mod.
3.)Max was active in late June, right before I attempted to contact him, although I don't think he has been active since,as I haven't heard back from him.
4.)I hope to,just as soon as I get the right program, and just as soon as I learn to use it. :D

Sir Arvondor:
Added gameplay video.

Gambino:
definitely looking nice but why do they spin in the middle of fight? :P
