Serial Key doesn't work

So I bought my game off of steam and I want to play multiplayer but they gave me a really weird key. I gathered that it should be 4x4 well mine is 6x4. So Warband doesn't see it as valid. I tried putting it into the 5x5 conversion but it didn't work. Please help me.

This happens when Steam oversells and is out of serial keys (very likely the first 4 digits you have are MABW or something similar).

If you check back with Steam later it should refresh with a legitimate key. Sometimes verifying your game cache speeds the refresh process.
If not resolved in a day or so, I'd contact Steam support.
