Military miners
« on: July 17, 2012, 10:37:36 AM »
I thought it would be cool to have a miner class in sappers, or just give sappers a pick so they can attack stone walls or dig at the bottom of them. It seems very rarely in history did cannons achieve a clean breach without the help of sappers and miners.

first of all, there's no thing as a 'clean' breach. Second, Miners were used to dig the siege lines towards the fortress, but eventually, the cannons had to do the final work.
[Waterloo] was Bourbon victory. The Allies were just marks bleeding on Louis' altar.

Yes but don't you think it would be fun? Whenever I  pick sapper there is usually someone better than me who has used the build points, leaving me with not much to do except repair/destroy items and hit people.

I think being able to help with the main objective of getting a breach would be rewarding.

It's called a chevaux de frise. Or sandbags. Or a gabion.

I think he means being able to use materials lying around rather than waste build points.

I don't see why my original idea is a big update, the walls can already be damaged, and picks wouldn't be hard to make?

Your adding a new concept to the game. Its like adding new units. Would probably have to pay?

We have mine and trench digging, just no maps with it, because its so boring. Back in the beta days we had a test siege map with mining.
You can still create a custom map with it.
