In conclusion mortars are generally shit
Mortars are the best artillery equipment in the game. The thing is they need to be used properly.
1. Do NOT aim with the reticle, you have to be able to judge the trajectory of the mortar based on how the barrel is angled.
2. Predict the movement of the enemy, gain a judgement of the amount of time it takes for the mortar round to hit the ground after firing (it is approximately the time it takes to reload the mortar)
3. Only use the reticle as a marker for specific locations, it can also be used as a range finder.
Mortars are the best artillery simply because they allow the cannoneer to use it to its full potential. It gives the gunner perfect control over the mortar, and allows them to hit any mark with the right mark.
I have gone 34 - 2 on River Crossing strictly using the mortar, they have a greater splash than the howitzer, and they are much harder to avoid.
Oh, and they are the only type of artillery that allows the gunner to kill themselves.
Don't you dare diss the mortar, fools.
