PoP 3.51 Playthrough video series

G'day folks,

I have been wanting to make a serious attempt at this mod for a while now and I've finally got some time up my sleeve. This is something different for me, I haven't done commentary video before, so critique is welcome. I am interested in gameplay advice since I am playing on quite a high difficulty with realistic saving, but I want to avoid all-out metagaming if possible.

I've uploaded 2 episodes so far, each divided into 3 parts 15-20 minutes long. I think this is a good format but I may change it in future. I expect to upload an episode every day or two. I have to contend with the Australian broadband network and internet restrictions so I can't upload as quickly as I'd like.

Haven't watched it all yet but i noticed you did not use the battle mini map in that first battle, press Backspace to bring it up. You cannot use attacks while its up but it can track all enemy movements and be used to direct your own troops.

I remember the old Mount&Blade method using the F keys, the backspace button opens up a whole new world! I'll have to figure it out, thanks

Just one question, do you use couched lance hits or not ?

I do use couched lance, but probably not as often as I should. Does couching become significantly more effective with the longer lance variants?

I think the lance damage is based on your speed vs the targets plus the lance damage as well as the horses charge value. If you have one that is 240 long and are aiming for a footman who has a 80-90 range two hand axe you can safely hit him without the risk of being hit yourself, which is why i always go for the longest lance i can grab.

Amusing to watch once again, and great work on that siege. Loved the memory of the red brotherhood and the slaughter that followed.

Next time you want to snipe some guys try standing to their right side instead of the left. You want those arrows going into their right armpit when they raise the sword arm rather than hitting the shield held in their left hand.

Ah very good, I've been enjoying the videos. 

Oh and BTW young foreign/cardinal direction-erns nobles at the end of their line either upgrade to rogue foreign/cardinal direction-erns knight or adventurer which of course goes on to Hero adventurer.

You tend to get 5ish at a time so it's easy to stock up and all of them are calvary.

Loving it, I see you've encountered a few vaseline moments already, I wish you much luck my friend. A few tips, if you want to field more of those heavy heretic knights you can always take up their infantry who with one upgrade become heavy horsemen, 2nd tip being ask EVERYONE YOU CAN about "rumors", sure it's 10 denars but there are GREAT non-vaseline involved rewards you can get from this . Have fun and PLEASE continue this.

If you'd like a few hint spoilers to alleviate potetial hardships in PoP then you can for example do these things:

- In battle you can use the backspace key to toggle the tactical overlay. It is often a useful tool.
- Talk to wandering travellers in taverns and ask for rumors (costs 10 gold).
- In Valonbray there is a chest (and Valonbray looks really nice when walking there)
- The chests in Rane and Valonbray can refill with nice stuff if you ask travellers for rumors in taverns (and pay 200 gold)
- Doing some quests for lords and villages may help the income and honor
- Young adventurers are good to recruit in taverns and level up to adventurers after a while of upgrades and later hero adventurers
- Trading can be lucrative sometimes (trade goods like salt and spice can sell well for example. You need to find a town that has a lot of the good in stock and buy some and then sell at a place where they pay a premium)
