We have an 18 and over policy. Many people here were or are in the military and there aren't any squeakers who will scream at any mistake.

Well, yeah.  I mean, if it were the real military, the 'bad soldiers' have basically signed a contract that doesn't allow them to just walk off the battlefield or shoot one of his comrades in the face because he thought it was funny without severe consequences that last for years or decades in some dark hole in the ground.

Aye some regiments do lack discipline and tolerance of some young guns can only be tested so much, myself I'm 17 a Army Reservist and at college, However the majority of staff in the 87th have cleard the 20+ mark, A Kentucky National Guard Master Sergeant, a Graphics designer from Ohio, Retired Farmer from Ireland, Uni Students, and so on.  We give out promotions on how some one acts outside of game and how they can uphold themselves as a soldier, cause lets not forget this a war game! Regiments which throw sergeants to 13 year olds because they can spin and kill 50 people in melle can do it that way if they like but personally I hate that way, I want an NCO who can take charge of a situation and control the men. Something which I want the Privates and Regulars who are 15 or 16 to look up to and think "Hey that Bombardier P Smith is a cool guy and a good leader" Who takes notice of an officer or NCO who just shouts in your face and swears all the time, normally no one. Officers and NCOs don't need to shout either, a taking aside, a stern voice and a "Sort your act out or get out" normally gets the message across.

We have a 15+ Age limit but trust us, we make sure we weed out the annoying children who lack discipline and a mature manner in the recruit phase, however it is also game time and cool down time so not every one will be dead serious in games, some regiments are better than others and you will have to look around to find your best place. Some regiments are solely based on NW while others play a selection of games to occupy there time when not killing the French. Hell We got ARMA, Minecraft and Crusader Kings 2 to name a few and I bet other regiments do the same.

Personally I believe the 52nd have a lot of older members and will be a good choice, different regiments have different highs and lows, the best bet would be able to search around and have tasters if you will, see which regiment fills like the right place and stick there, I wish you the best of luck!

We don't do the role playing crap too much though, we're not like totally into it, we play to win and have a laugh during line battles ... if we arn't having a laugh its just not worth playing. Dosn't mean we're mature either, like I said earlier, line battles for us are just a way to wind down after work or towards an end of a day and have a good laugh with a beer in hand ;)

We mainly play a wide variety of games nowadays so we don't exclusively play warband, ranging from Killing floor to Payday the heist, to Crusader kings 2 (including the game of thrones mod) to world of tanks to ARMAII to Red Orchestra 2 ... thats jsut a bit of the multiplayer list ... oh and not forgetting some of the guys play DC universe lol.

We don't have a ranking system nor have a training to stand in a line, every guy is responsible for making themselves better, on the battlefield standing in line is not a problem at all ... but we tend to play skirmishers or cavlary nowadays, and having a lack of cohesive formation or the time tends to mean melee is much easier as the indervidual knows what he is doing.

An over 21 policy seems a bit over the top i think an over 18 policy would be excellent though. However the problem is that its not any regiment with only members of working age would have a problem with activity i think. Running a successful regiment takes a lot of time even. The fact that there are young people who are mature should also be taken into consideration (not many but some). A slightly flexible policy would probably work best but it would still be tough to implement and maintain.

Well, the last game I played seriously (in a unit) was Red Orchestra and briefly Red Orchestra 2, and the standard age requirement was 16. But most of that community happened to be 18 or older. I think Warband's gameplay naturally attracts a broader, and therefore younger, audience. That can't really be avoided.

Ironically, the one unit that took themselves disturbingly seriously (like full-blown army role-playing with hour-long ceremonies and church services and other weird crap) also had the largest number of minors in its ranks.

I remember when I was in the 52nd, we had a joint training session with a fairly well known Regiment... heard their leader for the first time give orders and his voice was so high pitched it could break glass.

Iv not got nothing against some of the younger members, but I still cried with laugher at this Napoleon barking orders.

Ah the benefits of rolling with dudes who post on a forum that requires you to have a debit or credit card to register. We're pretty damn chill most of the time.

Though we're also slightly drunk too. If your over eighteen playing this game sober is impossible.

Basically my only advice is that the age will not tell the maturity. You will just have to join a regiment, see if you like it there, and if not then you leave and try another. There's no harm in doing that.

Anyway if you want to try some regiments out. Consider ours ( The NR24.) all our info is right here http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php?topic=228336.new#new

We are a very diverse bunch of guys from all over the world. We have people who sometimes act childish, but when we are in an event all orders are followed, but still have a laugh. The same gos for training. When its public play, its all about the fun.

If our regiment does not suit you, then no problem, I hope you find another one.
