I just started reading these, and they're awesome.

Sagramor and Gandalf Merlin are my favorite characters.

Merlin is a cross between Gandalf and Keith Richards, it's awesome

What? The books and this mod are pretty much equivalent in terms of time. The Saxon Tales are set 200-300 years after this mod.

Brytenwalda's set about 150 years after these books

What he said.  :)

The Saxons are much more dominationg then in the Arthur-series, and you can even ride into Beddanburgh, like Uthred.

Yes, it may lay closer in time to the Arthur series, but in that short span of time, Brittain has changed dramaticly, but does less so in the 300-400 years after, so the map looks more like Uthred's time then Derfel's.

Considering that Derfel spends most of his time slaughtering Germans, I can see how you'd come to that conclusion  :mrgreen:

Actually... that makes him more... no. I'll let it rest.  :wink:

I read somewhere that Bernard Cornwell himself thinks that the Warlord Chronicles are his favorite works.  I have to agree.  I've read everything by him except for his nautical mystery novels, The Fort, and the Sharpe Series.  It's hard for me to choose between the Saxon and Warlord Chronicles but I think that the Arthur/Warlord series is better.  It's more imaginative and does a really superb job of retelling the Arthur Myths in a completely original way.

A+++ Highly recommended!

Check out the first paragraph for where Mr. Cornwell calls them his favorite books

It is really amazing that the books have been written in the mid-nineties, but so few people do know them! I myself discovered them last year.

And they are really good. Cornwells Arthur is the best saga I ever read, in both historical and fantasy cathegories, it is much deeper than Uthred saga (which scores anyway a second or at least third place in my own ladder).

Cornwell is the main reason I love Brytenwalda so much, it recreates a very close atmosphere with the books, allowing you to revive them, even though you have already read all of them (good, Uthred saga has not been completed yet, but I can'T presently read anything new until Cornwell does not publish the next :-p  )
