Anyone on Windows 7 ever managed to create their own campaign map for WB?

I've tried Thorgrim's map editor, no joy - I've looked at fixes to be done, but can never get the config file to accept the changes I make (auto path) and no matter how many times I uncheck "read only" on the Editor Data folder, it remains Read Only.

I've just tried Lumos' Warband Map Manager, and again, no joy - I don't know if it's because I could never get Thorgrim's map editor to work or, as others have suggested in his thread, that it's down to using Windows 7.

I've spent a fair while installing, uninstalling, reinstalling programs, looking up fixes, trying to apply them, downloading programs, finding that they haven't worked, and I'm at my wits end. Does anyone here have any experience of/know of a way that a Warband campaign map can be created without all this fuss?

Thanks, I appreciate it.

Well I use windows 7 and the map didn't come out the way I wanted it to. People said to change the config file to make the map smaller but they never said how to go about doing that so I just put that off now. I would also like to edit the config but sadly the same as you no joy.

Here's the way my map came out

I can't even open any of the map editors, let alone end up with a screwed up map.

Does anyone have any experience with actually editing the config file successfully, as well? Looks like I'm not the only one who could benefit from some help.

EDIT: I know how to create a .cfg file now.

Open up your .cfg file and paste it into word document (empty, of course) Save as

--- Quote ---"settings.cfg"
--- End quote ---

You have to put the speech marks in, otherwise it just saves as a .txt file with .cfg written on the end of the name. That should solve the problem of not being able to edit the .cfg file now - just make the changes you want to your new file and replace the old one with it.

xPearse:
Thanks, I will try that out and hopefully the map won't become messed up this time around.

I have in fact effectivly used the map editor on windows 7.
