[Offtopic] - Historical music
« on: June 11, 2012, 09:16:15 AM »
I'm hugely enjoying M&BW:NW and I'm associated with some Peninsular War recreationist (you can watch them at "Sorpresa de Arroyomolinos" youtube videos). Due to a lack of better historical sources, they don't have napoleonic music for their parades and battles so I'd like to know where to find any kind of musical info (music files, scores...) to improve their work. Thank you very much in advance.

Best Source should be a museum, I'd reckon. Find a Historical museum's webpage, and mail them.

Check the folder "Music" of Napoleonic Wars to listen to all the musics you hear in - game.

This
Seriously though, you must be mistaking "Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord" with "Mounting Babes 2: Bonerlord"; both in open DreamBeta.

He is asking where he can get information on the scores and other information about the classical and marching music of this era, not for the files.

Then i'd suggest to listen to "Paganini" or Vivaldi .

Vivaldi is a little early for Napoleonic period, he's a Baroque composer, the Napoleonic period took place on the cusp between the Classical and Romantic period. I'd recommend going off this:

Luigi Boccherini was a favorite of Napoleon's younger brother Lucien, as well as Willhelm II. His music is very good, and I have not been able to stop listening to this particular piece since being reminded of it by a friend in my regiment.

Russian and Prussian marches by me are the best by far, the only ones that can get up to them are :
British grenadiers march
Austrian Radzetsky march
French " La Victorie est a nous " march
Serbian " Marš na Drinu "
Yugoslav "Paradni marš"
:) :)
Montenegro
über alles!!!!

I have a big playlist of marches that I regularly listen to whilst playing. Ranging all the way from the Dutch to the Hungarian marches, and many in between. :3 French and Hungarian tend to be the heaviest, I find, with the strongest sounding instruments and larger orchestras. I generally prefer drum and fife music, though. Like Brighton Camp (if you can find a good version). I found them all on Youtube. I got quite a few from this guy:

And just went from there.
