Probably due to them reducing the turning-speed down a lot from what it was in Mount and Musket. I find it quite annoying as I have tomove my mouse ridiculously far now in order to get a stab on someone who might be only 70 degrees to the side of me. Doesn't feel natural. I suggest you turn your 'mouse sensitivity' down in options.

Okay... So there is no "fix" for this? Or do I just have to get used to it?

Get used to it, learn to use something that requires a little more skill for reward.

I wouldn't say spinning didn't require skill
"The Lord is my light and my salvation- of whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life- of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked advance against to devour me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall. Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear." ~ Psalms 27
