Public games.
« on: June 07, 2012, 11:04:04 PM »
Hi guys the current sale on steam has reduced Napoleon wars to £3.99, my friends don't want to buy it and i'm not sure about joining a regiment. I was wondering if public games are just disorganised and generally no fun because i saw some videos of line battles and it looked like a lot of fun.

Thanks

Public play is usually pretty disorganized. If you really want the linebattle experience, you'll need to join a regiment. Pub play can be fun though, especially in siege, where the defenders sort of work together with the building and manning of defences and stuff.

Public playing is great in my opinion.

When i entered this community and started playing the game, i started in public games. It was pretty damm fun if you ask me. Today i still go there from time to time to play a little :)

If you want organize play and to remain as a "free-man", "scum" or "pubbie" I suggest going to some community events that allow public regiments to form.
The prime examples are the following events:
Tuesday Linebattle: http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,222828.0.html
Friday Linebattle: http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,225189.0.html

I have been on public battle servers where each side made an organized outpost on opposing hills (I think foggy fields map or something?) each side had organized artillery and infantry lines. Amazing stuff... pub servers have there moments

"scum" or "pubbie"

this line of thinking is a problem.

I dunno, I name those in jest and been involved in public regiments from MM to NW for roughly 2 years. I personally think "pubbie" is a form of endearment. Though, I did throw in "scum" as some bad political satire-lite nonsense on the view on public players from some regimental members.

Yeah we do it as a joke on our forums, but you really shouldn't say this stuff when your posting in the OFFICIAL GODDAMN FORUMS FOR THIS PRODUCT.

I'm a proud pubbie and I definitely see it as a term of endearment.  But yeah Flaminx, if you want the LB experience without the regimental hassle, definitely check out the events Matthew posted.  The pub regulars are a fun group of guys.

Well public battles are not bad but nothing can beat a Linebattle with your regiment on Teamspeak.

And Yes public battles is incredibly disorganised.

WELL SAID! Public games are still mega fun, and there is a LOT of drama in regiments. Still fun though.

Not really, nothing like it, for me that is.

Also the best way to getting enjoyment out of a regiment is to join when they are small, that way you would be the veteran.

That's what I did turned out great.

No. The problem is that you are not one of the "pubs" and yet somehow get offended by this. I lead the pubs on Tuesdays and Fridays (along with some other notables like Gooner and Commissar Thurne) and the "regiment" revels in self deprecating humor. Silent Matt is probably one of the most well known pubbers on Tuesdays and Fridays as he is always carrying our colors with honor. If he wants to call us scum, he has that right, he is one of us...

You don't have the right to be offended until you are one of the proud pubs.
