HOW DO I JOIN?

PUBLIC PLAYERS:

Those interested in playing that do not have a legion/warband of their own to join are welcome to join regardless. If there are enough public players a pub line will be formed, if their numbers are too few they will be allowed to fall in with any line of their choosing, or wherever they may be needed most for team balancing. The past few battles we have had the few pubbers there are join our line, the XXII. Also, if any other legion/warband needs a temporary TS channel, we should be able to provide one in our TS in our Mount&Gladius subchannel group.

LEGIONS & WARBANDS:
You can join the SNAG Steam Group publicly now, so you need no invite or approval to join. We will still give out the password through our TS, though being in the steam group is still recommended. Generally I do not password the server until about 5-10 minutes before the event begins, giving you time to get in with your legion before the pass is out. I will give the password in TS first and only through the Steam group if I feel it is necessary. Keep in mind that this is an event for legions and warbands only, pubbers not in our TS for the pub line will be kicked. So make sure you have your tags if you are fighting with your clan.

RULES

Rules are very basic and easy to get down but it is crucial you know them and follow them to the dot. It's our best way of making the event both fun and fair.

Don't Rambo.  Ramboing is when three or less of your line is left alive, you MUST retreat and re-attach to another legion's formation. If you are close to an enemy formation you may charge them and fight to the death. But if in no direct combat, you must join another formation. The only exception is when less than 5 people remain on your team. In that case, there are no rules in play at all.

Don't be a smart ass and go archers or cav.  You will be warned and slayed, and if it happens again, temp banned on the spot. Only units assigned special roles may spawn as them. Just because your legion/warband has predetermined ranks for who gets to be archers or cavalry does not mean you have the privilege of doing so at your own will in this event.

Gotta have at least 8 guys to be considered a formation (warband or legion).  If you can't muster 8 guys to show up, join another Regiment (and their teamspeak, obviously) or join the pubs. Exceptions may be made though, ask the admin before the event to be sure.

Most of all, be nice.  No insulting others or being an ass so that it ruins the game for others. If you're just being a jackass you will be banned without question.

Default Armor Rules

Default armor rules. Special roles will have slightly different armor allowances, but in general everyone is allowed this as max armor:

Commanders may wear the best gear if they choose (on Gaul only) or Centurion Armor and Helmet (Rome). Only two officers per formation max. The second Roman officers may spawn as a Vexilarius and bring a banner if they wish.


Gauls may wear the 3rd best armor .      (Gallic Mail Shirt)
Gauls May wear the 1st hat                    (1st hat)
Gauls may wear any pants                       (Blue Plaid Pants)

Romans may wear the 5th best armor     (Legionary Segmentata)
Romans may wear the 3rd hat             (Legionary Helmet)
Romans may wear the 2nd leggings       (Single Greave)

Weapon Rules
Gallic Infantry- Any weapons and shields
Gallic Cavalry- Any weapons and shields
Gallic Skirmishers- Gallic Pants or Gallic Tunic and any Leggings, Any amount of throwing weapons allowed
Gallic Foresters- Free reign over all equipment (as they have so little)
Gallic Champions- May wear max armor of all types, but are allowed no throwing weapons

Roman Infantry- Any (restricted by game mechanics now, rules not needed)
Roman Cavalry- Any (restricted by game mechanics now, rules not needed)
Roman Skirmishers- Null ATM
Roman Archers- Free reign over all equipment
Roman Praetorians- Spawns as Legionary but may take Praetorian armor and helmets, but no pila


Any breaking of the rules will first result in a warning. If it continues, the player in question will be slayed. If it happens again they will be banned for the remainder of the event.

Well again no event today, just not enough people. We had about 10 of us playing for a good time though an had fun. At that though, I will not expect a ShieldBattle Event until the next update. I will reserve this time slot however as a time for anyone to come into the server and play, somewhat like the Imperator happy hour thing. Our Teamspeak is still open to anyone who wants to join there, otherwise we just leave it on a team deathmatch and have fun with that.

Well, the Second Legion would attend, but the vast majority of us are European.
I am British, so the event is at 22:00 which isn't a problem, but 70% of us are European (GMT +1), and staying up until midnight on the computer is a no go for the vast majority of them.
Slightly earlier events, say, around 8pm gmt (2pm Central American Time) would be much more suitable, and the full might of the Second Legion could be brought to bear on this event!
Think about it. Even earlier than 14:00 (Central Time) would be incredible, and would get even more of us attending.

Well it is a North American event. But yes, attendance would benefit this better. I could perhaps move it an hour earlier? I'm not sure if two hours earlier would work as I know the Euro Linebattle in NW is just before this.

That much earlier should maybe be another event, I don't think a good portion of NA people will be able to make that. The best balance I think for NA and Euro players is one or two hours earlier than this already is.

Well I know there is a Euro Linebattle that would likely spillover to then. And we have guys that do that battle. However, I am unsure of whether or not our guys signed up for it this time or not. If they did, I will start this right after the sunday battle gets out, as I don't know of anyone else who participates in that linebattle who would also come to this (except our guys of course). So I would say maybe...an hour and a half earlier at best right now.
