well artillery with an average NW playerand no support from Inf/Skrimish/cav is pretty much dead if a cav charge. 8,8/10 times the cav would win i guess

Aye the cav does "win" But your pretty much out of the fight after you "win"

Currently the only way to use cav effectively is using them near the end of the battle to mop up units that have taken large losses so your still no use to your team and may as well just go inf or arty.

Also the game has no flank mechanics so charging the rear don't really make much difference.

Just an FYI I do not play exclusively as cav (infantry mostly) but when I play I do not fear cav even as arty witch is wrong as cav should be feared by everybody.

Commander battle should be about people working together (with their units) to achieve victory.  The current load-out for artillery crews completely subverts this allowing them to doddle about the battlefield with no concern regarding position or cover.
Sounds rather reasonable. But there are 3 things:
1) Actually, present commander battles are the only place where casual and independent players can get something like line-battles playing alone.
2) When you are playing a gunner there is nearly no chances to defeat any regiment - infantry or cavalry- 1v1. Place gunner crew vs any other regiment and if enemy captian presses F1-F3 and gunner crew is already dead.
3) Gunner regiment is a regiment like any other. Defeat it and enemy force will be reduced by one regiment. Thats why I cant understand your problem -

if the cavalry (nearly guaranteed) destroys artillery crew and is able to support other units - whats the problem? I think you should call it "success" and "mission complete".

It was said - "cannoneers are OP". And I cant agree with that.
Now it is more like "cavalry are rubbish". And this is a whole separate question. (And there is a topic about this).
Seems like cavalrymen being wiped out in that topic and now are trying to outflank cannoneers, when they are not covered with infantry.

How can you fix that by nerfing gunners?

well first of all in commander battle i dont see artillery as a very dangours thing becuse of its slowness and hard too aim. so this is kinda how i use cav: imagine Infantry charging infantry, too out number them a cav/inf charge is absolutely great i find this kinda strategic move almost always effective. but durning LB's were most artillery regiments are very experienced i like too keep myself out of they're range. Cav is good but only if you have support and youre enemy dont see you. a Only cav charge against enemys which see you and have you in range and are in position are almost immpossible to kill also in commanderbattle aswell as Linebattles. but Commander battle needs too be fixed since you should the oppurtunity to get youre infantry to form anti-cav formations like a square and cav should have the oppurtunity too ride in sirceles around infantry instead of charging like they were no tommorow xD

to finnish it off, no real need to discuss this, if youre good with artillery use it if youre not you can try too get better alright ?
and i wouldnt call it OP its realistic and very hard, somethimes u get lucky u know and thats just how it is.
Also bots arent completely fixed yet and probably wont be fixed
 :D

Do not mean any of other opponents, just you. If you want to talk like this way then specially for you:
Try to take our muskets and bayonets away.
You can not?
Then Cry More.
