Commander battle should be about people working together (with their units) to achieve victory. The current load-out for artillery crews completely subverts this allowing them to doddle about the battlefield with no concern regarding position or cover.
Sounds rather reasonable. But there are 3 things:
1) Actually, present commander battles are the only place where casual and independent players can get something like line-battles playing alone.
2) When you are playing a gunner there is nearly no chances to defeat any regiment - infantry or cavalry- 1v1. Place gunner crew vs any other regiment and if enemy captian presses F1-F3 and gunner crew is already dead.
3) Gunner regiment is a regiment like any other. Defeat it and enemy force will be reduced by one regiment. Thats why I cant understand your problem -
well artillery with an average NW playerand no support from Inf/Skrimish/cav is pretty much dead if a cav charge. 8,8/10 times the cav would win i guess
Aye the cav does "win" But your pretty much out of the fight after you "win"
if the cavalry (nearly guaranteed) destroys artillery crew and is able to support other units - whats the problem? I think you should call it "success" and "mission complete".
It was said - "cannoneers are OP". And I cant agree with that.
Now it is more like "cavalry are rubbish". And this is a whole separate question. (And there is a topic about this).
Seems like cavalrymen being wiped out in that topic and now are trying to outflank cannoneers, when they are not covered with infantry.

Just an FYI I do not play exclusively as cav (infantry mostly) but when I play I do not fear cav even as arty witch is wrong as cav should be feared by everybody.
How can you fix that by nerfing gunners?
