Best game intro?
« on: May 11, 2012, 06:30:10 AM »
Playing shogun 2 and realized it probably has one of the better intros to any game I have played. Anyone seen any other good ones?

Oooh, that is a nice intro.

My personal favourites (assuming you're not just talking about cinematic and that I can include introductory game play) are probably the following:

-Metro 2033 (game play)
-Mafia II (cinematic + game play)
-Civ 5 (cinematic)
-Skyrim (I liked the entire starting sequence)

There are probably other ones, too.

Edit: Grimrock had a nice intro, too.

Man, I used to love intro's back when I was younger. Old CGI was the best.  :P

For the Shogun 2 intro, what the hell is Lawrence of Arabia doing in Japan?

I've always loved the Quake 2 intro. Even though the game itself hasn't aged well, it's still a cool setup.
Cold be hand and heart and bone,
and cold be sleep under stone:
never more to wake on stony bed,
never, till the Sun fails and the Moon is dead.
In the black wind the stars shall die,
and still on gold here let them lie,
till the dark lord lifts his hand
over dead sea and withered land.

Forgive me for not taking scientific advice from someone who thinks evolution is bullshit.

BF2 one was better :(

There was even a bad remake of it in BF3 :

New Vegas had a fantastic intro. Set the scene extremely well, I thought. DLC had great intros too (but it's one of the few games I can say where its DLC was great.)

BF 1942 intro was the best of the series.
I'm young, black, rich and famous.
I got ten dollars hanging from my anus.

If you don't feel my flow
I will steal your ho
After I steal your ho
I will kill your ho
Raise her from the dead
Count up all my bread
After I am fed
I will make that ho re-dead

I loved this when it came out.

Didn't realise there was an uncut version though, thanks for linking to it.
