Yeah leaving the vault was a really awesome moment in gaming, you step outside then everything's just so ******** destroyed.
Seconded. Played the hell out of it, and I enjoyed the game a lot, but that moment was still the climax of my experience playing Fallout 3.
Thirded. I don't think I'll ever forget that moment. Immediately afterwards stumbling upon an entirely destroyed town. I absolutely loved just wandering around the wastes and salvaging stuff. I'd just read
The Road by Cormac McCarthy and felt like this was more or less what the man and the child had experienced.
Anyone who hasn't seen these machinima yet and who still has a fond heart for Fallout 3 should watch the
Wasteland Survival-series. Think there's 5 of them and they're the best machinima I've ever seen. The last episode, Springvale Elementary is probably my favourite.
