Teamkillers suggestion
« on: May 06, 2012, 07:44:42 PM »
On some counterstrike servers, anyone who attacks a teammate at spawn gets autoslayed. I was wondering if it would be possible for server admins to implement something similar on a battle server, as someone teamkilling right at the start is fully intentional. Whenever I do see this happen, I'll follow the perpetrator and avenge my fallen comrade, but I think the autoslay method would save a lot of headaches.

Reflective damage is already a server admin option.

Good to know, but I don't see it used.

100% reflective teamdamage kills the game. It's annoying as all hell in some situations. I don't mind dying from a teammate's attack if it's my own goddamn fault, neither do I particularily feel sorry for people walking in front of my cannon/musket or trying to desperately steal kills in melee fights.

The game includes an autokick feature for excessive teamkilling and the "good" servers usually have an admin or two online.
Yours sincerely,

No I agree entirely. I'm talking about at the beginning of the round, where there is no need for bayonet swinging or musket shooting.

I personally think reflective damage is a poor choice. It punishes those who make a genuine mistake (and we all do). Shouldn't punish the majority for the minority.

I agree with the OP: spawn TKing is nothing but intentional (99.99% of the time). An autoslay period of maybe 3 seconds, nothing too lengthy, would be a good fix for this. It completely removes all incentive for the TKing griefer. He will do no damage to the intended victim, while removing himself from that whole round, thus negating any further opportunity. ould also make things slightly easier for an admin present.

Yeah I gotta say, man, intentional team killers are just plain idiots. Scum of the Earth.

I'm digging this game so much that I wanted to introduce my brother to it Saturday night. So we get into my own private server and mess around a bit so he could practice a little and get used to the muskets and whatnot, and then we decided to jump into a well-populated siege server (the 84th) so he could see how awesome and epic the huge battles are. As soon as we got in some jerk was running around constantly kicking everyone near spawn. I knew there would be trouble.

I told my brother to follow me and we'd try to stick together, so we headed toward the front. On the way we stopped near the cannons to watch the artillery and take a few long-range musket shots. All of a sudden, here comes that jerk from spawn, and he walks up and just starts stabbing and killing the artillery teams standing there trying to do their jobs--only now he had a few friends with him helping. My brother's all like hey, are these guys attacking our own guys? I said yeah, they're idiots, ignore them and let's move on. Before we could, though, the dudes ran at us and killed us. By now the artillery guys were flailing about trying to kill these jerks.

This really infuriated me, especially since I told my brother how amazing and fun this game was before we started playing (we don't usually play on public servers for fear of griefing). Shouldn't have done it, but I ran back over there and helped the poor artillerists to get revenge on these guys (and we did in frenzied, merciless fashion), and then left the server for greener, friendlier pastures.

Stupid idiot griefers. I'll never understand the mentality of people (probably mostly kids, I'd hope) who enjoy spending their time doing that kind of stuff to other people. They should all be banned permanently when caught. Idiots.

Or the people that stab teammate's horses right at spawn before they can move out...

Also! Maybe a suggestion for spawning in general, is it possible to make troops spawn in groups?

Say something like : #       %      *

#= All Cavalry
% = Infantry
* = Artillery

This way when you spawn it will be less of a mess and infantry won't get stuck between horses, or it won't take a artillery horse a minute or longer to navigate from the spawn to the proper spot because of all the infantry blocking..

well if any of you are able to make the code for it be my guest
the nearest we got to it is, the auto kick after a number of teamkills

I won't pretend to have any impressive knowledge with the game engine, but I have this suggestion:

Spawn points specialization. As of now you just have 1 spawn point for battles on each team. Would there be any way to get into the engine and make 3 spawn points for each side? 1 with infantry, 1 with cav, and 1 with artillery?

We are looking into other options to fight teamkillers. Note that cenzila is only a community admin and moderator, he does not work for FSE or does any coding.
