I'm sure somebody here owns a flintlock weapon replica that can still shoot, buy a dead pig or chicken or something meaty and record the sound of musket ball hitting the flesh.

Make sure the volume is loud enough with the file and pop it on the forums for modding.

my bad guys, i guess i never really bothered to use my xray vision to see through the smoke, or use my bat ears to hear the quietest sound in the world thanks guys for being so patient with my dullard self i should have just turned on the kill log right before every time i wanted to take a shot
Seems like someone is to lazy to check the log.

Checking the log (I presume you mean the chat log? The 2nd line of his post suggests that he prefers not to have the casualty report on) takes you away from the game for a second or two, in which time you might run into trouble. Plus when there are many kills happening, finding your own kill isn't easy. Furthermore, a hit doesn't always result in a kill. If you are shooting at long range you need to know if your aim is good, and if you have no discernable feedback on whether you are hitting someone that is a problem (I am not sure if I have heard the hit sound once in NW, so that is not discernable feedback for me).
Ah well, about the log. It takes 1 secound for me to draw my eyes to the chat log, check it and then look back at the center of the screen.


About the hits, I'm really not sure. In the 42nd we usually have someone calling out hits, not sure about you guys tho.

I replaced the original mp_arrow_hit_target "whump" sound with a really loud ding.  Shot some stuff online and couldn't hear a thing.

Well the game is suposed to be realistic...if you get a message every time you get a hit that does not make the game mushc realistic dosent it?

Besides, what matters is the kill not the hit :) (altough it helps to see where to aim)

If realism was truly a focus of this game they wouldn't have a kill log (ala counterstrike)

You already get a message when you kill someone.

I know we get a message when you get a kill.

But that aside, to be more realistic when you get a hit it does not show a message.

It would be ofc even more realistic if it didnt show the kill message...but i think that would not make sense we have a scoreboard :)

That's not anymore realistic, you can still find out if you managed to kill someone; it's just a lot more involved and annoying.
