Alot of the stuff, including Burka's actually go back to before even the the times when the ancient Egyptians got chariots from the Hyskos (around 16th century bc)With accounts of the 'hooded women' of the people they traded with on the Arabic peninsula or possibly people in what is nowmodern day Iran.


So technically it's not a 'true' IIslamic tradition, just the result of extreme cultural conservation. 

Edit:  Also, generalisations suck, and yand the article is fail for making them. =/ (hypocrisy ftw.)

Weren't they going to vote laws in Egypt that basically legalize necrophilia and lower the women's legal age to marry to 14 years old?
