Command Menu?

Howdy everyone! First post here I suppose, and I have a quick question.

Now, I'm not sure if this is a glitch or simply just a feature that isn't/won't be implemented, but when I was screwing around with some custom battles, I noticed that the command menu wouldn't pop up when I hit backspace (as it does in Warband). Now, I can still command troops via the number and function keys, but with that it's pretty much impossible to get them in the positions I want them to be in; I can just issue basic orders like formation, forward/backward movement, and weapons usage. Is anyone else having this same issue?

Ah, tis a shame. I was hoping to get some good practice in with custom battles for commander battles, or at the very least just screw around!

That being said, do commander battles have the command menu implemented? I would certainly hope so, seeing as it would be quite difficult to maneuver your troops otherwise.

Unfortunately not, but commander battles are amazing, we ate the 27th foot run them on our server 27th_Server all day except for when training.

That's how it is in Native Custom Battles, too--the backspace menu is not active. The triggers that run the battle menu aren't present in the Custom Battle mission template (and then the casualty/troop counting code from those scripts meant for the SP campaign don't exactly count things correctly if they are activated).

You could try the .txt tweak to add them to custom battles from Native Warband and see if that works for NW--no guarantees, so definitely back up your mission_templates.txt file before trying. You'll find it in the link in my sig.


Also, you should be able to get them into position by holding down F1 and dropping the flag where you want them. There shouldn't be any orders from the backspace screen that you don't have access to via the normal order menus.

Oh, why thank you! I'll definitely give that a try a bit later on. However, might as well get used to the regular command keys for those commander battles! I was not aware that F1 would let you move your troops; heck, it wasn't even until recently that I discovered the existence of the command menu in Native single player!

That being said, I will give that little tweak a try, and I'll let you know if it works. Hopefully it does!
