Turn off "Report casualties". Seems like the engine has problems keeping up to date the chat and it causes framerate drops.

This is only true in highly populated conquest/siege where there is too many reports.

Apart from that, since they are so chaotic and everyone is around respawning et all, they are much more intensive than other gamemodes.

when i set all settings to low resolution to 800x600 and dx7 i have the same framerate as on 1920x1080 and everything on high with dx9
The full 200 Slot Siege Server is with 10-15 fps not playable for me and on battle Servers its really difficult to play sometimes with 25-30 fps.

in mount and musket the battles was never a problem only on siege with 100 players with particle effects i got sometimes arround 40-50  fps but it was ok.
Now i get in siege battles with 100 players average 25-30 fps.

I tried out older drivers and its still the same. When i get time i will try out my old Geforce 275.

I also got a hd6870. OC ofcourse

I never get frames under 70 except when a round starts. On Battle Commander I get around 15 frames in the first 5 sec, with around 20 players in the server each controlling 20 men.

But its more a CPU issue then a GPU I think

If you get the same frame rate is probaly a CPU issue not a GPU issue. What kind of CPU do you have?

I'm guessing it's caused by an aged engine.
That's what I fear, that the game I bought is made for a game unable to handle those big maps and battles. I have a similar system but with an AMD videocard, and it's pretty much the same.

AMD Phenom II x4 955 with 4x 3,2 Ghz and 4 GB DDR3 but when i look at the task manager while i play it shows me a cpu usage of 20%-30%.
I dont understand that because a friend who has almost the same system (he got 2gb more ram and a geforce 460, same cpu) run this games without issues at
50-60 fps. He have Windows 7 like me,...
I cant test my old geforce 275.... because the new case which i bought is to small

CPU has nothing to do with this kind of problem imo, it's a gpu problem, if you have an AMD card you will get very low fps in some occasions. This is killing the fun for me unfortunately. Hope they'll optimize and test this game for AMD users too.

I think it's the same problem for Nvidia users, too. ;)

Me and a relative of mine got a GTX 550ti and experience the same problems. Probably we can't do much about it, because it's a problem of the engine, but nonetheless we should try to gather information of users who don't experience these problems with their settings...

It's the amount of people on the server. Play a battle server and see your FPS rise from 30-40 at the beginning of the round to wellllll over 100 by the end as people die. Environmental graphics settings makes no difference if on all max or all lowest. It's either the fact that the game can't handle this amount of people on a server, or it's the particle systems (too much smoke!) or maybe it's both.

Also, how do you turn off that report casualties settings?

Not only that, also the amount of models and reflexes/lighting.

I think a specific range of AMD/ATI cards does not work too well with Mount and Blade. We always knew that Mount and Blade does a lot better with NVIDIA cards (they are better anyway).

Try disabling Antialiasing ingame and see if it gives any result, also open your ATI control center and see if any Transperancy AA settings are enabled or if you force too high AA.
Try to set it at default and see if it helps.

We can not do much about that, we are sorry. It is very difficult to please every single bit of hardware, especially since mount and blade is not the most optimised engine.. :/

Do note that the CPU is also a big factor for M&B.

ESC -> Options -> At the bottom, there is a checkbox for chat.

I said it in the Conquest server. Some people reported better perfomance, others just a cleaner chat. It helped me a bit on massive conquest/siege. On battle its almost sure it wont make any difference.
