It's more or less of a vicious circle. I, and as I'm sure loads more of players, intend to play as a pikeman because to do so with an organized squad guarantees loads of fun. But most of the times upon entering the Invasion server you find yourself surrounded with a 4:1 ratio of musketeers vs. pikemen, which quickly makes you conclude you're more or less sitting duck trying to hold back all the bots with the two of you. And so after waiting for 3 or 4 rounds several times, you just switch to a musketeer yourself, thus even more diminishing the number of pikemen.

I dearly thank you for that insult.

If you had read my comment you would have understood that more then 3 pikemen to make the wall. There were no trenches just us and our hard work.

You going around telling people how bad they are, and what nought; you probebly consider yourself really good.
Please tell everybody about it.
(click to show/hide)

Sorry, I didn't think you would take it that personally *Hug*

But why not use trenches? They're pretty useful, especially when you need your enemies
at range

We just played two rounds before the other pikemen routed. So we never really had time. Though from playing as a pikeman on maps like last stand you truly see the benifit of trenches.

What really bothers me though is that some players insist on having both doors (in the gate) open; 'couse if you have one gate open the bots won't destroy the closed door but their entry point will be smaller restricting the number of enemies you face at a time.  :D

EDIT: btw forgiven and forgotten  :D :D
I would prefer it if horseman would have some courtesy and would leave people alone when dueling.

I'm beginning to think that the pikes against  bots - a glitch. It may not hurt to add a new kind of bot.

^This, getting killed in the first few rounds form being on the frontline due to a lack of backup quickly erodes your wil to play as a pikeman.

Well, the trick is to get behind a corner where the bots only get line of sight when they are in your stabrange

Yay, but the door has benefits with both doors open or just one. With both the cannon is far more effective

Well, you might as well say, that firearms are glitched because you can get behind cover and bots
will wait in the open to be shot down
I am more concerned about the instant death that serveral pikebots are, if you prefer melee

A bot have a big advantage in a firefight - he always knows where you hide and shoot as soon as you came in sight.

Well, you can just aim, stand up from crouching and fire, no bot will be fast enough to shoot in that time

Try it: they aren't

Although slowly reloadable weapons that can only take down one target are the worst kind of weapons
to handle crowds anyway

I have tried - often, raised the head - was shot in the forehead.

Against several lancers hidden from firing  the bots do not have a chance. Maybe they need explosives.

Hmm, in my opinion you're correct as far as you're facing one musketeer bot. But often when you're up against several musketeer bots and there are more human musketeers as well, they will apply the human musketeers will apply the same tactic as you described. In this case they have often just cancelled their shot aimed at another human opponent, while you just pop up to shoot at another bot. The bot you're aiming at does indeed not have the time to aim and fire at you before you've fired at him, but in these instances you're often more than likely to get shot by a bot who has just cancelled his shot at one of your comrades.

I must admit: I barly use firearms at all, because I consider them extremely boring

As for bots with explosives: they are killing enough of their own already

Really, it would be nice if you could disable firearms for players and bots

It is implementation-dependent. Can be made a bot-bomber with a barrel of gunpowder, which explodes when attacking a player (or strengthening). Thus, the arrow will have to kill the demolition as soon as possible.

And the game turns into a stupid wringer.

I don't think suicide bombers were that common at the time

I agree, it is not realistic, but it's easier than to teach the bot to install and activate the bomb. But without special tools, tactics of bots is boring and monotonous.

That seems only fair since cavalry is blocked on almost all invasion servers.
I can understand why players can't use cavalry, bots will end up following the horses around, leaving the infantry with a really boring round of just standing around and waiting for the cavalry to die.

But what i can't understand isno mounted bots, and i guess the only reason is some players think it's to hard...

Anyways if you can block horses then also muskets should have that possibility.
I would prefer it if horseman would have some courtesy and would leave people alone when dueling.

Considering the somewhat low amount of players playing even in busy 'normal' times I rather doubt a no-firearm invasion server would draw any players.
Nords ruled by King Ragnar, Khergits ruled by Sanjar Khan, Rhodoks ruled by King Graveth, Swadians ruled by King Harlaus, Vaegirs ruled by King Yaroglek. All those peoples live, fight, and die in the continent of Calradia. The Nords and Rhodoks field solely infantry and archers, the Swadians and Vaegirs have infantry, archers and cavalry and the Khergit field almost exclusively cavalry. No such things as "infarty" or "calvary" exist. Play Vikingr!
