A Question Regarding Musicians And Colours Etc.
« on: April 02, 2012, 10:22:33 AM »
I've seen that musicians, Colours and Officer's etc will be giving bonus' to units around them.

I'm just curious as to how far the radius is for the units to have said bonus and if the musicians move out of range do the units loose the bonus instantly or does it take a set amount of time?

Also do the musicians and co. only give bonus' to the units of the same class in the allowed radius or is it to any friendly unit at all?

And finally, if you capture an enemy's colours do you get their bonus or is there some sort of negative effect on them?

Thanks in advance

Maybe they can release more information about this in a sneak peek or a dev diary.
It would be more informative that way.

We will tell you more about that at a later point, in a new sneak peek.

I also have a question about musicians. Can more than 1 drummer and fifer play together at 1 time? So like 4 drummers 2 fifers?

Seeing that you guys can work with the engine its a shame you are not doing a actual morale system, rather then a stat-boost based system. You should have far more options now right?

The loss of a officer and the flags etc, should have a negative effect upon death aswell as postive, also a vice-versa effect towards the enemy

To be honest, I think there are no morale system fans in our team. My personal ( not team) opinion is that morale system for horses could theoretically work, however, having your character disobeying your control because of any sort of morale system would have been annoying. In all FPS-style games morale state of a character is a morale state of a player.

Thus meaning everyone is rambo and everyone fights to the death. Which is a "problem" in all mods. For example you would be surrounded by twenty men and your the last on your team for some reason, in Warband you would fight to the death while really the player himself would surrender when put in that situation. (So in gameplay terms, a player who surrendered and didn't come back basicly wouldn't count as alive in the player list)

But yeah its your call. Morale for horses sound interesting, what were your thoughts on that?

Well, that is not the worst example of what morale might do. Let's say you're defending a fort and you only have 10 teammates, when attacked by 40 enemies. Though the ballance isn't in your favour, your team can still win due to the strenght of the position. But it turns out that morale system decided that your team is outnumbered, all members are "scared" and thus aim twice worse and load muskets twice slower. That is what I call "annoying".

And well, I don't think I should discuss either human, or horse morale, as I'm far from being on coding part.

This would then promote officer targeting, I'd hope not for your suggestion really...

Would make it historically accurate, in real life, People generaly tried to shoot officers first.
Especially if they were Richard Sharpe...........

Edit: or Daniel Hagman.

Accuracy is about the same, though slightly tweaked here and there.

Gameplay always above realism, nothing worse then having a unplayable game due to your gun misfiring all the damn time on the wrong moments.
