Questions on the setting

Well, technically not on the setting, per se, but more how my character would fit in, and how she should behave in it.

My character, Dame (or Lady) Ililsa the Red, is a bastard born Swadian Knight, acting out her position as a Hedge Knight or Knight Errant, seeking her own fame and fortune rather than fighting solely for one Feudal Lord. My questions are: Would I be able to roleplay her off the bat, or is there a certain pecking order to things?

What laws or etiquettes should she follow? Obviously it's no fun when a new person comes along and says they're more important than you, do what they say, but would my character be given lenience as a Knight, or is law the same for everyone?

What is the situation with heraldry? Currently I use the gold lion on red, but my character's heraldry would ideally be that in my signature, and I can swap the in-game representation without hassle if anyone particular uses it.

And finally, if my character dies in in-game combat, is the character dead, or just wounded for a period?

Ok although I am not an admin, I have been playing on the server since it first started so I shall try answer your question as best I can.

Well you would have to do a few things before you started to roleplay this character. First of all you would have to write a character Biography on the forums. You would then have to apply for the mercenary knight position on the forums (You will only receive  the job if Admins think you are capable if Roleplaying such a character.) Normally new players start off with a less important character such as a Farmer, House guard, etc this helps you learn the commands and show players and admins you are capable at roleplaying and understanding the rules.

Pretty much same as above, If you receive the position you can act all high and mighty if you desire. But if you are a commener acting superior will probably get your character in trouble in some shape or form.

I am not really sure what you mean here, but I will try my best to answer. You can use what ever heraldry you want as long as no other house In-game is using it. You will not be able to use your heraldy in your signature as the server is running Native and does not have any new banners (You could install a banner pack, but only you would see your banner as it is.)

And finally, if my character dies in in-game combat, is the character dead, or just wounded for a period?

Most combat in the server is non-lethal, when you are beaten in combat your character will fall down and be unable to get up for 90 seconds. When you get up, you should then roleplay your wounds and act accordingly. In special cases the person can request a character kill from an admin, This means the character who was knocked down was killed and can no longer be roleplayed. (You can request a wealth transfer and get most of your gold given to a new character.) Character kills only happen in extreme cases when the only logical end for a roleplay is for the character to be killed.

Read the rules, write a biography, make an application and the admins will take a look at it.

Basically she should behave like a knight would behave (though there of course are exceptions, if stated so in the brief history of the character). So she should have honour, be devout (although religion doesn't play an important role on the server right now, we want to change that in the future), courteous, courageous, (loyal) and generous. Of course you are free to add other virtues a knight would have in your opinion.

You are allowed to choose any heraldry, in discussion with the admin team. Of course you can always change your banners client-side, if you want to.

And finally, if my character dies in in-game combat, is the character dead, or just wounded for a period?

You'll have to role-play your character is wounded, depending on the wound for how long.
If the wounds are too severe, so if the scenario evolves in such a way that your character is likely to die, she will die.

Thanks for all the help and information! I'll see about registering and writing her a full biography as soon as I get the time, as I already have other roleplay and real life obligations at the moment. But I'm looking forward to see if the concept is accepted!

Sadly I'm aware that her specific heraldry won't be able to be imported into game, I might select an ingame one that represents the pattern better, however.
Any heraldry of the house she's from would be inconsequential, as she's illegitimate!

The character shouldn't be too much trouble as far as acting like a Knight goes, being a huge believer of Chivalric conduct. Although I would like her to be rather devout. Note the motto in her coat of arms! Is a religion already implemented, or would the admins need to bring one to the setting?
