Well I was thinking not only gameplay wise but mostly esthetic. Most factions used so much similar stuff around this time. And there are weapons that just don't offer a lot of customizing like javs and spears.

The Goidel were great since they have some new helmets, an Irish axe, Irish fighting sticks and some swords. I wonder which other factions offer that much stuff to work with.

Those axes in the Slavic Research thread looked great though. Straight from a Vasnetsov painting

People don't play this mod beacuse of other big mods.
Most players don't know about the mod yet, but after the patch it came more player who have only played Native.
We need more players, that makes this mod working.

That's why. People are just leaving for some reason.

I left because I had to install Win7 and my computer handles Vikingr much worse on Win7 for some reason. :D

Having played some Deluge lately, mainly invasion as Vikingr doesn't have an equivalent, I have come to the conclusion that while larger battles would be fun on one hand, a great number of players would probably bring down teamwork, increase trolling and so on. Only a few days ago in Deluge, me and a friend spent roughly twenty minutes in a teamkilling war with four other players because they would not stop trying to TK us.

That's the thing, the large events were super fun and reasonably well organized in Vikingr. Surprising, I know.

I have the feeling that the M&B multiplayer community is a fickle sort, and it's possible that we've lost the more numerous players once available back in 2010 when warband first released. It seems like the big three to collect players do so for a niche reason - MM because of musketry, CRPG because people like persistent stats and such, and Persistent world for similar reasons. I've seen other multiplayer mods run into population troubles too. Which really is unfortunate since the amount of attention given to Vikingr is nothing short of impressive. Would that I wasn't doing SITD, I would have wanted to help establish a Vikingr singleplayer experience. Might also be that singleplayer just tends to be the raison d'etre of M&B players?

I mean I can't really fathom why Vikingr would have trouble getting a multiplayer populace, given it's strength is what the majority of players prefer - no cavalry, no archery, rough and tumble melee fighting with the added bonus of Vikings and such.

Best of luck to it. I just can't play because I ragequit after I find myself swinging slower than I feel I ought to, or getting my butt kicked.  :mrgreen:

For all of those who ask why tehre aren't more multiplayer participants, I for one do not live in North America, and thus to me all the servers have ridiculous high pings.

Back to queston. Could factions have mercenaries, like special class? Like frankish, finnish, byzantium, germanic (i dont know was there any germanic tribes in that time) or other mercenaries in viking time? Normanz have frankish merc and Rus or Vikings have finnish mercenaries?
New mercenary class to every faction, if there is no new factions in future.

i would really liek some kind of slavid faction or maybe instead of ahaving one viking faction have maybe one danish one norwegian and one swedish one, just an idea  :)
