carbon emisions
« on: March 21, 2012, 05:41:18 AM »
i was bored and did the math on the amount of carbon emissions you produce based on your forum rank.

based on the idea that you make 20 milligrams of co2 a second from web browsing
http://edition.cnn.com/2009/TECH/science/07/10/green.internet.CO2/

Recruit (0)  :P

Regular (1 day) 1 kilogram 728 grams

Veteran (2 days) 3 kilograms 456 grams

Sergeant (3 days) 5 kilograms 184 grams

Sergeant at Arms (5 days)  8 kilograms 640 grams

Squire (7 days) 12 kilograms 96 grams

Knight (10 days) 17 kilograms 280 grams

Knight at Arms (15 days) 25 kilograms 920 grams

Sergeant Knight (20 days) 34 kilograms 560 grams

Sergeant Knight at Arms (26 days) 44 kilograms 928 grams

Master Knight (33 days) 57 kilograms 24 grams

Grandmaster Knight (50 days) 88 kilograms 400 grams

20 milligrams a second
1 gram 200 milligrams a minute
72 grams an hour
1 kilogram 728 grams a day

Funny.
In the time I've spent on this forum, I've created more than my own weight in gases.
Like a solid graphite statue of myself sitting next to me in an ever more fancy chair.

Apparently I've made 250 lb of CO2 just on TW.

Now how much does one transatlantic flight on a private jet create?

it's the case of the straw breaking the camel's back, humans may produce what seems minimal compared to the natural environment, but co2 can only be absorbed to remove it from the atmosphere, what's almost funny is that we are actually in a period where the earth is absorbing more co2 then it is generating, but human contributions have put the total amount generated above the total amount absorbed, this in turn is causing co2 to just stay in the atmosphere, causing the green house effect, thus warming the earth, and the whole world starts getting a lot different just by changes in the atmosphere, it's what makes perfect (for humans) conditions for planets to be able to sustain life.

So even if co2 emissions were to be minimized (and we are a long way away from that), we would still need some sort of way to artificial absorb the co2 that is massing every year up in the atmosphere.

In a cruel but detached sense, the good part is that this is going to be a great method of population control over the next hundred years.

tl;dr natural emissions = ok, human emissions = ok, natural emissions + human emissions = not ok

mehh, not to be cruel (as the united nation has already put this forward) but most likly modern nations will not let the third world modernize, and also drop aid so they start to die off....

Universally everyone will start to die off as natural disasters become worse, but if you think Africa is bad now, just wait 40 years, more droughts, more famine, bigger deserts

Humans will endure though, it's the other species on the planet that are going to be wiped out, better start stocking up on panda DNA

Meh, it'd be far more if I'd spent all the time on the forum driving around cars. :P
Nords ruled by King Ragnar, Khergits ruled by Sanjar Khan, Rhodoks ruled by King Graveth, Swadians ruled by King Harlaus, Vaegirs ruled by King Yaroglek. All those peoples live, fight, and die in the continent of Calradia. The Nords and Rhodoks field solely infantry and archers, the Swadians and Vaegirs have infantry, archers and cavalry and the Khergit field almost exclusively cavalry. No such things as "infarty" or "calvary" exist. Play Vikingr!
