Your most Epic Deluge Moment.
« on: March 21, 2012, 01:47:54 AM »
So my fine Polish/English/ROW gentlemen!

What's YOUR most Epic Deluge moment? Be it Regimental, or personal, i'm sure we'd like to know.
The thread is far too beautiful and took too long for Ej's blood to be spilt upon it.

Fog covered Zabraz, shortly after the mod became 'The Deluge'. 250 slot server, 120 players, invasion mode with Sweden against 200+ Ottoman bots. In a large gap of the earthworks a line of pikemen huddled together in two ranks, their pikes ready to thrust at anything that came out of the fog. Musketeers lined the earthworks, pouring shot after shot into enemy ranks whilst arrows flitted through the fog & smoke, bullets slapped into earth and thumped into bodies. Horses whinnied and neighed. The sound, the immersion - unbelievable. I huddled with James Digby in the front rank of the pike formation, musketoon strapped across my back, pike held in my hands, hearing missiles slap into and strike down pikemen along the lines, unable to see our attackers, just waiting for the bullet or arrow that would strike us down. Horses appeared out of the gloom to be impaled upon the pikes while Janissary's fired from the fog bank. Best experience I've had in Warband bar none.

When the enemy has a shotgun misfired. I really want to hear what he says at this moment. :)

This is mine too! Unless it was another occasion, but it was in the position you described on the same map, with the same factions and there were over 100 players....I haven't had a game like that since. I was a pikeman by the way. We held their melee infantry off for a long time, but when they had more missile troops we pikemen had to huddle behind temporary earth barricades and let our gunners do the work. By the time the Ottoman cavalry arrived late on we were rather reduced in number, and quickly routed. I ran for my life but if I remember rightly they killed most of us before we reached the fortress.

I did have an amusing and fun moment last week though on the island/lake map. I was in a boat heading for the rear of the island so that I could bypass the stockade which protects most landing areas when I saw a boat with 4 enemies approaching. I headed straight for them and leapt on board, which perhaps surprised them. I was able to kill one guy with my sword (I think I had fired and missed before nearing them), another of them tked a teammate in the cramped space and a third fell over board to his death, leaving just the one man, who alas killed me. I had another quick game on that map tonight. There were only 10 or 12 of us on the server, but it was pretty fun- about half of each team was going into boats and we started having little naval battles, and there was much panicked shooting and (often failed) boarding attempts. I tried one such attempt against a player named Sandwich Guardian, who was aiming at me with his musket. I could only hope he missed, but I was luckier than that- he misfired just as I reached his boat! I stood up and leapt across to his boat, but unfortunately for me I didn't jump far enough and plummeted to the lake bed. Another amusing death happened a few rounds later when a certain Sebastian Hische fell off the back of his boat. He was trying to jump onto the barge if I remember rightly (where I was) but took too long a run up  :D

just now fem minutes ago, i was the only one left against an arkebuzier on horse, i hide in a shed and jumped out right infront of him, he maganed to stop his horse and suddenly we both aimed at eachother with our muskets, at very close distance eye to eye (that close that it's almost impossible to miss a standing target), thinking "now it's either live or die" we both pressed our triggers at the exactly same time and they both went "spfhhhhhs" .. 2x misfires.

It all ended out good though i cut his head in two after our epic moment, im afraid it had to be done, cant forget that were actually enemies.

When I was playing as the Swedes VS an invasion of Cossacks, and remained as the last person alive versus 14 Cossacks still left. I was a dragoon. Knowing that I stood no chance, I discarded my musket so I was lighter on my feet, and drew out my saber to go die with honour. I almost killed all of them, with only two to go. Then one of these two decided to headshot me. :(

But it was kinda spectacular in my opinion. :)

This guy is destroying a boat on the fortresses shore, he's in the boat i jump in and sail it away.He says WTF i then reply lets take out thier cannons he says "Good idea" then we see the engineer's cannon barrel aim lower. and lower. until it was level with us, the guy yelled he did't want to be there i yelled evasive manouvres! but it was tooooo late the solid shot hit the boat plumb killing both of us and reducing the boat to matchwood. wet matchwood.

Mine has to be when me and Sg were mucking around, forgotten the name of the map but everyone is in a half ring of carts next to a river, so just after a wave all of us as engineers we ran to the enemy spawn and 1 second before they spawned lit our bombs. almost too soon, when they spawned the blew up nearly instantly killed up to 30 of them with 4 bombs. SG suicide squad created and annialated!

So many good memories I have, but one of the most epic moment I've been through was me and Eagle making a last stand on the Manor map against the invading cossacks. :)
