We're back online, thought I should probably give everyone the heads up.

I'll take the occasion to share some simple rules of conduct :

Do not intentionally team kill, wound, (including punching and kicking, which damage both ones health and feelings), please think to apologise for unfortunate accidents and lastly if you're in the mood for silliness - try to keep it to the winning team!

We've set matches to first to five points, ensuring a quick fight if teams prove unbalanced or a longer one if they're not. (this however may be reduced to 3 or 4 with a greater number of players)

Feel free to post your requests, complaints, thoughts, or whatever crap you might think of relating to our server right here. Unbanning requests however need be sent by PM, as to maintain the appearance that we are nice people and to spare us all internet drama.

Possibly... Although I've got to admit I'm perhaps the greatest fan of the script, and although the stats are currently not balanced to handle it I might have an idea... We'll see.

Fyrningum is currently offline. Moescript was enabled only a few hours, but after that only for polearms.

Haha, I love how placebo works, people were whining about the ūberswords all the time on the server.

An issue we will do our best to address immediately!

Hope everyone is enjoying the game - now, we've had the one handed axe script on since launch - I'd like everyones input on the matter. It certainly makes for a bigger challenge, but so far I've not witnessed any absurd imbalance. Perhaps it had to do with stronger players on the axe-cursed teams, still, let me know what you think.

ATTENTION
ABSOLUTELY I would create a poll if ever I knew how, given the laziness of the Vikingr player base when it comes to actually writing stuff (which I am very much known for also)

It's a bit tricky with the script on one-handed axes. There have been plenty of situations where I would have hit someone had it not been on, but instead only whiffed them. However, once you get the hang of it, swords don't feel as overpowered as they did at launch. I have even begun favouring shorter axes as opposed to grabbing the longest one I could find, for the simple reason of eliminating as much of the whiffing area as possible.

Yesterday, however, was probably the most ridiculous session I have ever played. I had so much weird shit happen that I even considered just uninstalling the game completely: Countless things passed through my shields - it was like the edges of my shield didn't exist. I often saw blows pass me before I died from them and sometimes, when I attacked someone at the same time as they attacked me, I would see my weapon go through them before their attack connected and most often killed me on the spot.

Then there is the old "why is everybody always quicker than me". It doesn't matter what weapon I use. It can be a seax, a sword or axe. It doesn't matter if I turn into the blow, whatever I do I will move slower than whomever I'm fighting.

Well for one thing Heregar, what you were experiencing sounds a LOT like packet loss & choke - it has nothing to do with ping so can be difficult to identify, but when it happens it feels EXACTLY like that.
The second thing is that there ARE many, many high tier players in Vikingr, who's understanding of the mechanics and timing is impressive - many have put years into it, the gap closes fast FIGHTING them though, so I wouldn't worry too much. :)

But yeah, all in all what you described sounded very much like connection problems on your part.
