What do you mean by 'recon regiment'?

What do you mean by more like MM?

What is the reasoning behind the asked for ruleset? Are you trying to create a set of rules to enforce for every secession line battle?

Just wondering, thanks for any extra insight you can give.

Yes, that's it, we would like to create some news rules to facilitate the secession's line battle. My Captain, just gave us some examples for possible rules.
So the idea is to debating these rules saturday with officers.
To answer your question,  the "recon regiment" is just only one person by each regiment, so it's a scout. His goal is to indicate enemy position to his team, he shouldn't come into contact with the enemies to kill them. And he would like to say by "it's time to Say if the linebattle need to be like in MMrussia or not" if we have to be always in line like MM or if we can crouch and so on...
Well, all will be develop saturday.
I hope I helped you to understand.

Well, secession is not mm and doesnt want to be mm.

I see lot of line battles in secession with recon units, like the cavalry scout the positions and report them to the infantry.
Crouching is mostly allowed, even to form small spaces between your ranks and form small skirmishing lines.

Civil war warfare is quite different then napoleonic warfare (well, some tactics were still used, but the use of terrain was more important).
Also, the line battles are played on maps which feature lot of cover, fences and walls.. which can be used.

Well, I did not join a line battle since 4 weeks now but the line battle rules in the last months were very nice and offered lot of fun. So why do we get a compare with mm line battles again? ;)

being in a shoulder-shoulder line doesn't work, maybe if you had 30-50 people in a line it could but it just doesn't, you get mowed down relatively easily. and we all know the maps and where people are to most likely go, so why use scouts?

i mean ya it'd be neat to see lines however i think it'y only be appropriate if it was in a gamemode where you can respawn otherwise it's just which line stops and lines up shots first. if it was conquest or something i could see why thatd be neat

i prefer the chaos that you sometimes see in games opposed to the prettyness. such as mass melee fights where you have like at minimum 10v10 and its really cool, i dont like seeing lines of guys fall down from one volley unless however they can respawn

Yep, MM rules just don't really work in Secession linebattles. It's a different mod, trying to shove MM rules onto a Secession linebattles is like trying to shove a square into a triangle slot.
If you'd like to create your own linebattle with these rules, feel free - I'm sure Deo will put up a server for you when the time comes for it - but MM rules won't be applied to Saturday linebattles.

What my Captain did want to say is that he would like to invite colonels or regiment leaders to debat on potential rules that could be established for the futur and if some of them have ideas to discuss.
Hope it helped to understand ;)

I don't think you've really understand why i would like to do this meeting.
Then explain?

Current rules seem fine to me and most people agree.

What's unclear? It's basically stay together while mounted, you can form a spaced out line when dismounted.
