Floris or Native Expansion?

I'm new M&B player and I was checking some "overhaul" mods and I want some advice from players who have played both. Thanks.

I'm fairly certain Native Expansion hasn't been updated for a while.

Native expansion is definately harder, with weapons that hits 100s and armours that cover around 200-300 in total area.  Also the dark knights invasion is a pain if you can't even get use to it without as they are like Swadian knights vs Rhodoks spearmen when they fight other factions and you, Lady Larktin has insane amount of amour bonus and a shield that has 8400 'hp'.  Floris is more peaceful compared to it so I would suggest going Floris first and if you want more challenge go for Native Expansion.
If you want the real secret to happiness, it is to find a woman that can cook, can clean, and is a freak in bed. And most important of all, make sure these 3 women never ever meet...

My assessment (which may be biased) is that Floris has more stuff all around and, crucially, all of the Warband staple mod features (Custom Commander, Diplomacy, Freelancer/enlisting, and I would hope to venture the tactics/formation features of Pre-Battle Orders & Deployment), but that Native Expansion has a bit more of a cohesive feel to it at the moment. So if you want more sandbox--more items, troops, graphics, gameplay features--do Floris. If you want more quests, the challenge of the invasion, etc, do Native Expansion. Both remain in development, each (in my mind) trying to move toward the 'middle', with Floris working on quests, balancing and polish, and Native Expansion bringing in new features.

Wouldn't hurt to try both, or to take a look at their feature lists and see what catches your attention.

They just came out with a new beta version or currently in the process of doing so.

Thanks guys for the advice! This kind of experienced information is worth as much as gold for any beginner like me. One last question, are these two mods incompatible with each other and if so, are there any compatibility patches?

There's no way to make them both work at the same time, no.
You might be able to add Floris Basic's items, etc, to Native Expanded...but it wouldn't be straightforward and I don't know that it would be worth the effort.

Ok thanks. I'm using at this moment Native Expansion plus some other independent mods that are compatible with NE. I found out about Floris mod yesterday and just like NE it has a wonderful array of features. In fact, one thing that catch my eye in Floris was the inclusion of the Diplomacy mod. I heard Diplomacy of being a very good mod. Does Native Expansion has a comparable "diplomacy" feature? Also, does Floris mod crashes your game sometimes?(I heard someone say that this mod sometimes crashes because of the conglomeration of mods)

It has some Diplomacy-like features, but not all of them---independent recruiting, and abilities to make different treaties/alliances both important to me.

Floris crashes are all from performance problems as the full 'Expanded' mod can be very demanding on people's systems (which is why there is a version without all the new items and graphics mods--Gameplay--and instructions to reduce some of the more demanding graphics mods in using Expanded). It really depends on the system...and your luck, sometimes. I don't have any problems, but then others clearly do. It seems more idiosyncratic than I'd like to admit.

There are some script errors and bugs here and there that still need to be fixed because of the conglomeration of mods--some of them are taken directly from the mods mentioned (Custom Commander, Diplomacy and Freelancer are not bug free themselves) and some from missing minor clashes when putting them together.

I see. Jeez, it's really a tough decision to choose. My logic tells me that it's not which one is better but rather which one is better for your gameplay style. Since I'm a beginner, I think Floris will be the right choice for me since, as the other poster has mentioned,  is a bit more peaceful while NE is more challenging--that statement could be wrong though, who knows what awaits me---

Btw, I see that Floris has a banking feature and I was wondering if that feature is bugged/outdated. I'm asking this because I love games that have banking systems.

It is working as designed. Could use improvement...and would look for suggestions on that, but it is working.

Ok thanks. I noticed your signature has "tweaks" for txt files. looks interesting.

Almost forgot to ask, is Floris modular? Or do all or most of the mods need each other to run?

I've just tried Floris mod pack v2.5 and the first thing I noticed is the new textures. They look awesome. Although, I noticed that in one skybox there's a very glaring texture seam in the sky and there are two suns!, lol. Does anybody getting the two suns issue? Anyways, so far everything is going well. I started in the Sultanate region and I noticed that I have in my inventory a camel! Cool.

Heh, might want to bring this over to the Floris board.
