In sweden these kinds of movies are never filmed, because todays society have seperated itself from our
violent history. I don't know why really, but i guess swedish media doesn't want to support the dictatorship
which cost thousend of lives both swedes and foreigners. i don't see how making movies about the countries'
is supporting it though

Among historians these types of people are called "Motherland deniers".
I would prefer it if horseman would have some courtesy and would leave people alone when dueling.

Sup peeps?

So I badly want to watch The Deluge, I have obtained the movie, but can't find the subtitles for the life of me...actually I can, but this is the first time subtitles didn't work for me. at all.

if anyone can point me to the movie with english subs I'd be immensely grateful.

p.s.

I have watched Ogniem i Mieczem. Mind = Blown. :)

Downloaded the soundtrack instantly after watching it.

If your mind blew up after OiM, then The Deluge should disintegrate your soul. :D
But, as always, the movie is NOTHING compared to the book. I've watched movie first and then read the book. After I finished, I concluded, that watching that film was just a waste of time. ;)

But back to the point... You obtained the movie... On a CD, or from internet? Because if it's on CD then I dunno how to help you, but if its downloaded, then what software did you used to run it? I mostly use AllPlayer, it works for me the best, if I have something with subtitles.

Thank you for your effort mate, but unfortunately I have been to exactly those two sites, and downloaded each and every one of those files. Even the 5 CD one. No luck. :(

I used windows media player and windows media player classic. None helped with subs :/

In my opinion those two programs are actually the least reliable of which I know(Windows crap...). Try AllPlayer. :)
Eventually try DivX software, they have codec pack and player too.

I would very much like to watch that as well.

If anyone can finds subs for either of them, or make them, I'll be eternally grateful. :)

OMG, that AllPlayer thing not only solved my problem, but found subtitles for the movie automatically in literally less than a second. WOOT.

wiwat rzeczpospolita!

Seriously, thank you mate, made this beast my default video player. Can't wait to see the Deluge now.

Watched 1612, but boy was it a downer. Story looks like it was written in fifteen minutes and every damn character is a stereotype. Main actors did a horrible job, giving no extra touch to their already shallow parts. And what the hell was up with that bloody unicorn every five minutes? Perhaps I'm not familiar enough with Russian movies in general, yet I fear I've seen my last one.

Don't let yourself have prejudices because of a one bad movie.

I watched a few Russian movies, and always found them exciting and original, same as I find Polish war movies exciting right now.

Try watching Night Watch or Day Watch for example. Very unique and original, though a tad bit slow paced.

Anyway, Potop is 5 hours long. Holy crap. Watched half of it. So far, me likey. :)

5 hours?!

Do they show the main character's entire life in real time? Do they read the Bible aloud from front to back? Or is there a three hour break in the middle of the movie?

Some directors just don't feel like cutting most of their movie out just to fit the stupid 1.5-2h movie length Hollywood standards. ;)

True, and I can applaud them for that. I enjoy a lenghty movie. :)

I have just finished watching it, it was very enjoyable and very well done, but I dunno, didn't leave me with the same impression Ogniem & Mieczem did. I think what it lacked was the brilliant music O&M had.

Oddly enough, despite length of the movie, they cut out A LOT of great scenes from the book. Like for example battle in some village, where a boy captured Swedish standard, Roch Kowalski's pursue after King Carl Gustav, Some parts of Jasna Góra siege scenes. A lot of great stuff is missing. :( I'd love to see the whole book on silver screen, even if it was to be 10 or 20 hours long. :)
