Well, and the battle of Lepanto:

Venecia, Papal States , Spain V.S Ottoman Empire  :D

Thanks Hofiko

Two thing wrong with useing the battle of Lepanto to justify the inclusion of spain as a faction in the game.
it is atleast 60 years before the mods time period 1571
and it was a naval battle that took place in the mediterian not the steppes of eastern europe :P

Spain is not such as great idea, they have nothing to do with the conflicts portrayed in the mod. ok

Ok, you have reason, but Spain is the best faction, and very easy to create

*sigh*
Im not questioning how good it would be as a faction or its easiness to make, it just would not make sense to see the spainish army fight cossacks in the open steppe of Russia, ok...

I agree with you, I only think that Spain should be added if any occidental countries are in. But I dont like see a spanish pike-wall against Cossacks that would be inacurated.  :?

Nah forget about Spain, the Dutch republic would be a far better faction seeing their influence in this time and their military power. Their reforms and manuals were copied throughout Europe. And this was also the Dutch golden age.

I guess, that when adding Western Europe countries will be in process, devs will probably start with the ones that are the closest to current theater of action. So HRE and Denmark-Norway will be probably under consideration before Spain or England.

In which major conflict did England fought in in the first half of the XVII century, anyway?
Apart for some little help to the Huguenots against the Kingdom of France and mercenaries here and there, and a mostly (if not only) naval war with the ducthies in the fifties it had only the Civil War. No involvement in the East, no involvement in the Thirty Years War (apart from mercenaries).  That would really be an out of place faction.

Austria or The Habsburg Monarchy would probably be better alternatives than the Holy Roman Empire/Emperor. Since the empire was not really (especially not after the 30 years' war) united.

Catholic League.  :D

Quote
The German Catholic League (German: Katholische Liga) was initially a loose confederation of Roman Catholic German states formed on July 10, 1609 to counteract the Protestant Union (formed 1608), whereby the participating states concluded an alliance "for the defence of the Catholic religion and peace within the Empire." Modeled loosely on the more intransigent ultra-Catholic French Catholic League (1576), the German Catholic league initially acted politically to negotiate issues with the slightly older Protestant Union.
Nevertheless, the league's founding, as had the founding of the Protestant Union, further exacerbated long standing tensions between the Protestant reformers and the members of the Catholic Church which thereafter began ratcheting upwards with ever more frequent episodes of civil disobedience, repression, and retaliations that would eventually ignite into the first phase of the Thirty Years' War roughly a decade later with the act of rebellion and calculated insult known as the Second Defenestration of Prague on 23 May 1618. Both the Protestant Union and the Catholic League were symptomatic of the eras increasingly intolerant behaviour towards others' personal religious/political beliefs.

The league's army fought and defeated the Danish on August 26–27, 1626 at the Battle of Lutter, destroying more than half the fleeing Danish army. Because this and other victories by Wallenstein, Denmark was forced to sue for peace at the Treaty of Lübeck. Now, the Catholic League hit its peak. Almost the whole German territories were under their control. The danger of imperial hegemony, resulting from this success, made the Swedish King Gustavus Adolphus become involved in the conflict in 1630.

Yes there has been alot of hype around naval battles, seems to be something the majority want to try.

Naval battles will be added for sure, so there's absolutely no need to ask for it.

[Waterloo] was Bourbon victory. The Allies were just marks bleeding on Louis' altar.
