Dynamic messin' with the upgrades (cross posted on mbx)

(1/1)

maw:
ok...

i'm starting to play with this, due to a few things Amman D has written, and got me tyo thinking...

the upgrade scheme (example from module_troops.py):

upgrade(troops,"farmer", "watchman"),

now, my question...

has anyone attempted to put a variable (or even a scheme) into one of the slots...? such as:

upgrade(troops,"farmer", "$troop"),

where "$troop" is randomly generated selection, like a companion NPC?

why would this be cooooolness: you could set an easy promotion scheme that when a good regular troopie reaches a certain level, you can promote him to random companion, or companions named in series, or whatever.

i'm gonna play with this, but seeing as i have everything but patience and time, wondered if anyone else has attempted it...?

luck, maw

DarkAnd:
i tried and i got a farmer being upgraded to a dark hunter and the dark hunter to a vaegir peasant and the vaegir peasant to a companion and the companion to me

ok... thats try #1.... looks like a wildcard...

i'd love ta see the screen shot...

i was thinking of pre-setting the "$troop" to a fixed troop or a troop within a random range that would scheme activate before actually jumping to the party screen... so when you looked at the trrop screen for upgrades, a named npc would pop up as an upgrade to a reguler troop, if certain conditions were met (like 35 level or whatever). maw
