Dedicated server

Well I would like to put up a dedicated server.
I downloaded it but now the problem I tried to play with a friend on the server but 1.) he didn't see the server
                                                                                                                                   2.) Can't change the server name
                                                                                                                                   3.) Can't get the right mod
Anybody can help me with this ?
