FREELANCER 2.0- A Feast for Crows! in development! (open thread)

Hail friends, of new and old, I have news for you, let it be told. Kings and Lords fight for Honor, Glory and Riches and maybe a pretty wench, But how I ask can they do this, Aye it as what you think ,with men and women, horses and machines, money and POWER! Could this be they need a soldier like yourself? Would you follow orders? Become and acend the ranks and become a knight or even a lord? Maybe a spy, The kings tax man?  Maybe even lead a bandit rebellion against a noble and relive them of their fat coffers and lands maybe even their lives! Will you have no honor and murder your captives and loot the battlefield while the blood on your sword is still warm? At the end of the day you have only two choices, Do what your told or not. Live or Die! What say you?

Freelancer II Standalone only
  • Put them to the sword! - Dispose of enemy soldiers. Will cause massive loss in relations with enemy for yourself and other kingdoms, hit to honor, increase in renown! 95% COMPLETE
  • Rank System - Pleb or Lord , will be put in front of your name. IN PROGRESS
  • Instant Battle Results - This battle is boring, I do not want to fight it. IN PROGRESS
  • More Missions - More missions relevant to being cannon fodder. ( ie Send a knight to be sacrificed from Native)
  • Cart System - just putting it out there
  • Burn your dead - Like on Brytenwalda
  • Rewards from Lord/King - You killed him and saved me, have this turnip!
  • Quartermaster character - Allot of requests for this one.
  • Lord camps  - Your liege lord will camp and rest, you can interact with army maybe even hold mini tourneys or duel? (Random Idea)
  • Be bad! - Ability to join Bandit, manhunters, merchant parties.
  • Rebellion without the player. - see poll
  • Rewards for kills, capturing prisoners (including other lords) - missions
  • I remember you! - Factions remember what your last rank was with them. When you return they will remember you and your previous status.
  • Your just here for the coin! - The ability to follow the Mercenary path while being promoted in a lords army.  IN PROGRESS
  • Now you're mine! - The opportunity to enter into service as an alternative to imprisonment by a Lord that is holding you captive - Thanks to Broken for the idea
  • Actual ranking -  not just using the 'troop tree'. As you gain respect (renown & honor) from your Lord, you are given new titles/lands that coincide with your rank (cosmetic)
  • Mini quests  - given by the Lord where you can do 'errands' for your commander if your rank is high enough.
  • Ser who? - Once you have achieved the highest rank available the Lord will recommend you be given a Noble title to his King, then possibly become a Lord. Receive a Knighthood with benefits ie. A Squire and/or Men at arms and the ability to court a Lady.
  • New Troops - In standalone, new troops with more tiers giving the player more directions to go within the army  IN PROGRESS
  • Peasant and Serf Troops ( Player stars as a Peasant ) Serfs are forced into duty , lower morale and low level weapons.
    -Modification to Diplomacy recruiting to gather Serf or Peasant troops ( Gain more recruits from villages when hiring Serfs but loose rep with village)
  • Also to add more ideas from the forum as well as other OSP code.
Freelancer 2.0 Standalone & Barebones for moders
  • Desertion ought perhaps have some consequences depending on the Lord whom you leave (instead of with all Lords) (Hit on honor/renown increase instead)
  • Compatibility with Fire & Sword
  • Working on standalone mostly at the moment ;)

Yes, I loved Freelancer, cant wait for second one!
I spit on thou from mine horse, and shoot you with a rusty bolt, I eat Swadian Knights for breakfast, Khergit Horse Archers for lunch and bandits for supper. All with a fine side of Velucian wine, which I find helps wash down those knights morning stars. I am a Rhodok and I will not be suppressed!

Perma-Death for lords? or am I asking for to much.
Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer.... and keep your frenemies as well-paid lackeys so that they're within easy reach for execution when they inevitably turn on you.

I think that would be a bad idea, kill a 20 lords, and at least one kingdom can't defend itself anymore.

Small update , I'm, already working on the ability to join bandits,sea raiders ect I have one question, would people rather just join a band of (insert bad guys name here) and just roam with them until they are disbanded or destroyed or should we work on using Bandit leaders and run it the same 'kind' of way like the other Factions, Mind you, if we wanted to have 'ranks' in these situations, we'd need a whole separate 'troop' tree for the bandit faction(s), Ie Sea Raiders become Nords, but I doubt (maybe?) people would want to just get the same ranks they get from joining the 'main' factions... What do you think? Oh I'm also.. "Considering" some kind of perma death for Lords but when it is done you would get such a hit on Honor that everyone would want to kill you and if your in a major Faction you will be exiled and/or hunted!.
Also , remember that Lords get kept behind bars , Plebs get the sword!  >:D ( I think you should be able to put prisoners to the sword, just get a big hit for you and your Faction with the prisoners Faction)

Just thinking out loud, help us make this awesome! Lets keep it to this subject , other Ideas can go in the Ideas topic.

I would personally have to say that I wouldn't want to join the bandits but if I did I would have to go with the just join band and roam. Also I like the putting prisoners to the sword.

Tara, if you are willing to make it possible to roam along with the bandits, make it also possible to join a desertband :) Cuz in the last version of FL, when you desert, you are just alone :/ Sometimes you won't desert alone, you know :D Getting what I'm trying to tell? Or is it too difficult for mr. good old friend the aussie? :D

I like the idea of joining bandits, one way I think you could implement it is having seperate factions for the bandits (Forest Bandits, Sea Raiders, Mountain Bandits, Desert Bandits, Steppe Bandits, Tundra Bandits) and leave looters as a general random spawning bandit group that continue spawning throughout the game (Maybe beef them up a bit?)

The six bandit factions would all have a couple of "Laires" which serve as fortresses, with a killable bandit leader.. Once the bandit leader is killed & lair's destroyed the bandit faction in question will be defeated and will not spawn any more units... though i'm probably going overboard here, this sounds like a completely new mod rather than an extension to freelancer!

Just a little KK :P . But Sword, yah you'll be able to join deserters, I think that'd be more realistic than just walking up to a Tundra Bandit leader and saying, "hey, before you put that arrow in knee, can I join you?"  ;) The main idea for 'leaders' is someone to talk to in the troop, maybe a 'fake' leader... btw no Vacations lol ( I just figured out how while typing this.. oh well)  But maybe instead of 'ranking' the bandit party could grow? and after some time you could take over and the men would be yours.. maybe even a duel and who ever wins gains the party including those parties you encounter lol Bandit Uprising! 600 looters take Calradia!
