So is there a rule against acting like an idiot?
Not a rule, per se. Just a general acceptance that if you're going to act like an idiot, you should at least make an attempt at proper spelling, grammar and punctuation regardless of which legitimate language you're using. "Moron" is not, however, a legitimate language.
The person who made the thread acted like a total idiot but used proper grammar. Does that make it acceptable?
I'd guess that depends on the content of his post. If it's more comprehensible, I imagine a mod/admin would have more incentive to read it. Faced with a barrage of the "moron" language, why bother even trying to read it?
And like I said, evry1 cn undrstnd meh whn i tlk liek dis,
Everybody who is a competent reader and speaker of the English language, perhaps. But as has already been pointed out, we have chaps here from across the world, some of whom don't even use the same alphabet
as us (hell, we're still trying to get Americans to stop missing out the letter U all the time), so even if you feel the need to be an idiot, doing so in clear and comprehensible English makes it easier for everybody to feel included (unless you're on a language board, in which case you should be an idiot in your own native language).
I am just trying to emulate my hero uncle dolan(the guy in my avatar).
I thought that was cute even though I've never heard of "Uncle Dolan" before. So I googled it, and came up with this:
Dolan is an MS Paint web comic series featuring a variety of poorly drawn Disney cartoon characters. The main character Dolan, based on Donald Duck, is often portrayed as a psychotic killer and sex addict.
Seriously dude, it speaks volumes about you if a psychotic killer sex addict cartoon duck is your hero. I mean, the world is full of real heroes, who fight for freedom and equal rights and save kittens from trees. Maybe stick your head out of the window and look for a little altruism in the world.
Nobody but you has a problem with it
Actually, many people have a problem with it. The sensible ones tend to just leave the threads which are dominated by the "moron" language (as I have coined it) leaving fellow moron-speakers to become more involved. It's a vicious circle, and I'm glad Goker's trying to curtail it.
most people find it somewhat amusing
Hmm... I must remember to PM Janus when he gets back. He really needs to consider upping that age limit deal on the forums.
to the point where almost half the Na community uses it in some respect every know and then.
So... because something is used often, that makes it right? By your logic, we should all be worshipping Justin Bieber and exalting that rubbish Fifty Shades of Grey book. Just because something is popular (though judging by your statement, I would question the maturity of "almost half the Na community") does not mean it is good or right.
Again, I don't see what I did wrong.
You didn't really read the posting Guidelines, it seems. The mods and admins police the board for Armagan and the Taleworlds staff. Ie, what they are doing here is endorsed by the game developers. The game developers like to have a good image, and project an air of professionalism to their customers. That's why good spelling, grammar and punctuation is actively encouraged, whilst "moron" speak is actively discouraged. It's why people are requested to keep thread on topic and not spam, and why the miscreants and their sinful threads of sin are largely confined to the Off-Topic forum. And if "moron" talk is loathed in Off-Topic, where a certain amount of silliness and perversion is allowed, nay, expected, then why should it even be tolerated
in the on-topic areas of the forum?
