Sudden? I recall everything slowing down to a trickle on MBX, then him just disappearing. Granted, I wasn't paying that much attention to specific forumites back then.
According to the logs on the internal board, pretty much active and involved with current issues to the last day, so it was sudden.

And yes, MT is Minas Tirith, go see him there and pay him a tribute. :)
