If your ever short a crew member, I would gladly volunteer to help man the guns. I've found the sweet spot to operate the cannons. (through first hand experience with my brothers in the 5th MI Cav) I usually can walk right up to the front and have little to no trouble at all ramming/loading/sponging the cannon. I believe a quick and efficient crew leads to devastation on the battlefield. My main roll lies in following the 5th MI, but I'd gladly help out any Union arty regiment if they need it.
